Knitting the Dress
Instructions. The dress is knit in stockinette stitch, trimmed with strap-like details fitted with metal hardware, crocheted from black yarn. The neckline, bottom edge, and sleeves are edged with crochet.
Gauge: 24 sts x 26 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. Back and Front. Cast on 80 sts and work in stockinette stitch, decreasing 1 st on each side every 10th row. After working 62 cm to the waistline, work straight for 10 cm, then increase 1 st on each side every 6th row. Bind off the shoulder sts in 3 steps. For the front neckline, at 12 cm from the start of the armhole, bind off the center 16 sts, then bind off every other row from the center 3 sts, 2 sts, then 1 st three times. Bind off the shoulder sts in 3 steps.
Sleeve. Cast on 40 sts and work in stockinette stitch. To widen, increase 1 st every 8th row. Work 45 cm, then for the sleeve cap bind off on both sides every other row: 4 sts, 3 sts, 2 sts, then 1 st until the cap height reaches 15 cm, then bind off 2 sts, 3 sts, and the remaining sts. Finishing. Sew all pieces together. Edge and neckline with single crochet (sc). Crochet long straps with double crochet (dc), finish them with metal hardware, and sew them along the center front and sleeves, folding them lengthwise as shown in the photo.
