Sweater

Note! Knit with the yarn doubled.

Back: cast on 61 sts and work 4 cm of 1×1 rib, working 4 rows in turquoise, 2 rows in white, and another 4 rows in turquoise yarn. Then work in 5×1 rib. At 16 cm from the rib, bind off for the armholes on both sides every 2nd row: 2 times x 3 sts, 2 times x 1 st. At 12 cm of armhole height, divide the stitches into 2 sections and work each side separately. To shape the neckline, bind off on the inside edge every 2nd row: 1 time x 3 sts, 1 time x 2 sts, 1 time x 1 st. At the same time, shape the shoulder slope on the opposite edge: 2 times x 5 sts, 1 time x 4 sts. Work the second side to match.

Right front: cast on 36 sts and work 1×1 rib, working 4 rows in turquoise, 2 rows in white, and another 4 rows in turquoise yarn. In the last rows of the rib, make a buttonhole (k2tog, yarn over) – for a girl; for a boy, make the buttonholes on the left front. Then work as follows: 8 sts in 1×1 rib (button band), 6 sts in stockinette stitch, *1 purl st, 3 knit sts*, repeat *-* 3 more times, 1 purl st, 6 sts in stockinette stitch.

In the next knit row, work the “three of three” pattern over the center stitches, continue the band stitches in 1×1 rib, making 3 more evenly spaced buttonholes; work the outer 6 sts on both sides in stockinette stitch. At 16 cm from the rib, bind off for the armholes on both sides every 2nd row: 1 time x 3 sts, 1 time x 2 sts, 2 times x 1 st. At the same time, at 11 cm of armhole height, bind off for the neckline every 2nd row: 2 times x 3 sts, 1 time x 1 st. At 2 cm from the start of the neckline shaping, bind off on the opposite edge for the shoulder slope: 1 time x 5 sts, 2 times x 4 sts.

Left front: work to match.

Sleeves: cast on 30 sts and work 4 cm of 1×1 rib as described above. Then work in stockinette stitch, increasing evenly by 1 st every 6th, 8th row. At 16-17 cm from the rib, bind off on both sides every 2nd row: 1 time x 3 sts, 2 times x 2 sts, 10 times x 1 st. Bind off the remaining stitches. Work the second sleeve the same way.

Finishing: sew the side and shoulder seams, sew in the sleeves. Pick up stitches along the neckline edge and work 2 cm of 1×1 rib, working 2 rows in white through the middle. On the right side, make one more buttonhole.

Pants

Note! Start knitting from the top down with the yarn doubled.

Cast on 110 sts on circular needles and work 2 cm of double rib. Then divide the stitches: 38 sts for the front and back sections each, 17 sts for the side sections. Work the front and back sections in stockinette stitch, the side sections in the “three of three” pattern. Work this way for 10-12 cm, then set aside the front and side stitches and work only the back section stitches in stockinette stitch with short rows. To do this, *work the back section stitches in stockinette stitch, turn the work and knit the purl row back*, repeat *-* 1-2 more times, so that the back half is 3-4 cm longer than the front.

Then work in the round on all stitches, forming a gusset in the middle. To do this, work 18 sts in stockinette stitch from the pattern, yarn over, 2 sts in stockinette stitch, yarn over, 18 sts in stockinette stitch, work the rest of the stitches in the pattern. In the next row, knit all stitches, working the yarn overs through the back loop. Row 3 – 18 sts stockinette, yarn over, 4 sts stockinette, yarn over, 18 sts stockinette, work the rest in the pattern. Work this way for 5-6 cm, increasing the number of stitches between the yarn overs by 2 in each following knit row. Sew the gusset, divide the stitches into two sections and work each section separately.

Right leg: work in the round in stockinette stitch, working the “three of three” pattern over the side section. Decrease by knitting 2 sts together 3 times every 3 rows, then 7-8 times every 5 rows = 40 sts. Work to the needed pants length, then work a 4.5 cm cuff in 1×1 rib. Work 8 rows in turquoise yarn, 2 rows in white, and another 6 rows in turquoise. Bind off the stitches.

Left leg: work to match.

Hat

With turquoise yarn, cast on 86 sts on straight needles and work as follows: 5 sts in the “three of three” pattern, *8 sts stockinette stitch, 9 sts in the “three of three” pattern*, repeat 3 more times, 8 sts stockinette stitch, 5 sts in the “three of three” pattern. Start the crossings in the “three of three” pattern from row 5. At 5-6 cm from the beginning, switch to circular needles and work another 3-4 cm in the round. Then begin decreasing in the middle of each “three of three” panel as follows: k2tog, 1 purl st, k2tog. Work another 2-3 cm evenly, then draw up the remaining stitches.

Ear flaps: pick up 19 sts along the side edge of the hat and work 2 cm of double rib. Then decrease 1 st on both sides every 2nd row until 4 sts remain. Work these stitches in the round for 10-12 cm (tie). Work the second ear flap the same way.

Finishing: make pompoms from white and light blue yarn. Crochet chains of the needed length using white yarn. Attach the pompoms to the ends of the chains and sew them to the hat.

Booties

Cast on 36 sts and *work 2 rows in stockinette stitch with turquoise yarn, alternate the next 2 rows with 2 sts white, 2 sts turquoise, shift the pattern in a checkerboard arrangement for the next 2 rows, then 2 rows in turquoise yarn. Repeat from *, but work the turquoise pattern on a white background. Then work 2 rows in turquoise yarn. After that, work the “tongue” only on the center 12 sts, continuing the pattern from the second *, then 2 rows in stockinette stitch with turquoise yarn, 2 rows with white. Return to the set-aside stitches, pick up new stitches along the edges of the “tongue” = 36 sts and work in stockinette stitch with turquoise yarn for 8-10 rows.

Then work the decreases for the bootie “toe”. To do this, work 11 sts of the “tongue”, knit the 12th st together with the next stitch of the side section, turn the work. Work 11 sts in stockinette stitch again, knit the 12th st together with the next stitch of the side section. Continue this way until only the center section stitches remain. Bind off the stitches. Work the second bootie the same way.

Finishing: sew the back seam, make pompoms from white and light blue yarn, sew them to the ribbing and decorate the booties.
