Stitch patterns and charts
Square Stitch Pattern
Number of chains for the starting row is a multiple of 12 + 3.
Work according to the chart. Start with the sts before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat continuously, and end with the st after the repeat.
Work rows 1–7 once, then repeat rows 2–7 continuously.

Gauge
18 sts of the starting row x 8.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked with a 3.5 mm hook,
19.5 sts of the starting row x 9 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked with a 4 mm hook.

Instructions
Back and Front
With a 4.5 mm hook, make a chain of 87 (99) 111 ch + 3 turning ch and work in the square stitch pattern = 7 (8) 9 repeats + starting and ending stitches.
After 42 cm = 37 rows from the starting row, attach a marker and continue working with a 4 mm hook.
After 26.5 cm = 24 rows (26.5 cm = 24 rows) 20 cm = 18 rows from the marker (= at row 6 of the pattern), skip 2 sts on both sides for the armholes, and over the next 6 rows, evenly distribute and skip the remaining stitches of the outer repeat so that there is 1 repeat less on each side = 5 (6) 7 repeats + starting and ending stitches.
We recommend making a full-size pattern piece, laying your work against it, and checking the decreases as you go.
After 46.5 cm = 42 rows from the marker (= 79 rows or 13 repeats in height from the starting row), finish the piece. The outer 1 (1.5) 2 repeats + starting and ending stitches form the shoulders.
Finishing
Sew the shoulder seams, leaving the middle 19 cm = 3 repeats (2 repeats + 1/2 repeat on each side) 3 repeats open for the neckline.
Sew the side seams, leaving the lower 20 cm open on the left side seam for the slit.
Work 1 round of crab stitch (= sc worked from left to right) around the lower edge, slit edges, and armholes.
For the collar, pick up the neckline stitches again and work in the pattern in rounds = 6 repeats. Begin each round with 3 turning ch instead of the first dc and end with 1 sl st into the first turning ch.
After 13.5 cm = 12 rounds or 2 repeats in height from the start of the collar, finish the piece.
