The number of stitches in the starting row is a multiple of 12 + 11.

Work from the chart. Start with the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat continuously, and finish with the stitches after the repeat.

Work rows 1–6 once, then repeat rows 3–6 as many times as indicated in the instructions, then work rows 7–11 once and repeat rows 8–11 as many times as indicated in the instructions.

Main Pattern B

Also work from the chart on the starting chain of Main Pattern A.

Work rows 1–5 once, then repeat rows 2–5 as many times as indicated in the instructions, finishing with rows 6–17.

Average gauge: 23 sts of the starting row x 8 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Note!

The flare at the bottom is created by Main Pattern B. The measurements given on the schematic are partly taken from the finished sample.

First crochet the upper part, then attach the lower part to it.

The arrows on the schematic show the direction of work.

Instructions

Upper Back

Make a starting chain of 95 (107) 119 ch + 1 extra turning chain, then work in Main Pattern A = 7 (8) 9 repeats + starting and ending stitches.

After 26 (30) 34 rows from the starting row (after row 6 of Main Pattern A), continue with rows 7–11, then work rows 8–11 three more times, finishing with rows 8–10 = 46 (50) 54 rows.

At the same time, after 40 cm = 32 rows (42.5 cm = 34 rows) 45 cm = 36 rows from the starting row, leave 1 repeat unworked on each side for the armholes = 5 (6) 7 repeats + starting and ending stitches.

At an armhole height of 15 cm = 12 rows (17.5 cm = 14 rows) 20 cm = 16 rows, leave the center 3 sts + 1/2 repeat on each side (4) 3 sts + 1/2 repeat on each side unworked for the neckline, finishing both sides separately.

After 2.5 cm = 2 rows from the start of the neckline, finish at 1 (1½) 2 repeats.

Lower Back

Make a starting chain of 95 (107) 119 sts and work sc around it as shown on the stitch chart. Then work in Main Pattern B = 7 (8) 9 repeats + starting and ending stitches. Work rows 1–5 once, then work rows 2–5 three times, finishing with rows 6–17.

After 26 cm = 21 rows (31 cm = 25 rows) 36 cm = 29 rows from Main Pattern B, finish the piece.

Front

Work the same as the back, but with a deeper neckline. To do this, at an armhole height of 5 cm = 4 rows (7.5 cm = 6 rows) 10 cm = 8 rows, leave the center stitches unworked for the neckline, as for the back.

Finishing

Sew the shoulder and side seams. Work 1 row of sc and 1 row of crab stitch (= sc worked from left to right) around all edges, but in the 2nd row, instead of every 2nd crab stitch, work 1 ch, and work the crab stitches only into every 2nd base stitch.
