Stitch Patterns and Charts
Trellis Stitch Pattern
The number of stitches in the starting row is a multiple of 4 + 3 + 3 turning ch. Work according to the chart.
Begin each row with the stitches before the repeat, work the repeat continuously, and end with the stitches after the repeat.
Work rows 1–7 once, then repeat rows 2–7 continuously.

Important! Within one repeat, the stitch count changes vertically. The stitch count given in the text refers to rows 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7 of the pattern.
Main Stitch Pattern

Begin each row with the stitches before the repeat, work the repeat continuously, and end with the stitches after the repeat.

19 sts x 11.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in main pattern;
Flower – 8.5 x 8.5 cm.

Instructions
Lower Part
With light gray yarn, work a starting chain of 233 (255) ch + 3 turning ch, then work in trellis pattern.
For the side slants, decrease evenly on both sides, starting from the first row, 2 x 8 sts every 6th row and 3 x 8 sts every 3rd row. To do this, work 4 x 2 dc together, skipping the intermediate ch.
After 32.5 cm = 26 rows from the starting row, decrease evenly in the following row (= 3rd row of the pattern) another 5 x 2 sts as described = 185 (205) sts, and finish after 35 cm = 26 rows from the starting row.
Upper Part
With light gray yarn, work a starting chain of 184 (200) ch + 3 turning ch, then work in main pattern.
After 14 cm = 16 rows from the starting row, work the back first over the center 92 (100) sts.
At the same time, leave 2 sts unworked on both sides for the armholes, then in each following row leave another 2 x 2 sts and 4 x 1 st unworked, and every 2nd row 4 x 1 st.
On the remaining 64 (72) sts, finish work after 38 (44) rows from the starting row.
Now work the left front on the set-aside 46 (50) sts first. For this, work the armhole decreases along the right edge as for the back.
At the same time, after 14 cm = 16 rows, leave 1 st unworked along the left edge for the neckline slant, then in each following row 11 x 1 st and every 2nd row 8 x 1 st.
On the remaining 12 (16) sts, finish work as for the back.
Work the right front the same as the left front, but mirrored.
Finishing
For the lower edge, make 14 (15) flowers and join them on the wrong side with gray yarn using sc into a single strip, inserting the hook only through the back loop. Attach the strip to the lower edge in the same way.
For the waistline border, make 10 (11) flowers, join them as described, and attach between the upper and lower parts, easing the pieces to fit as needed.
Edge all pieces with gray yarn in 1 row/round of picot (= * 1 sc, 4 ch, 1 hdc into the 1st ch, skip 2 sts or 1 cm, repeat from * continuously, finish with 1 sl st into the 1st sc).
Sew buttons along the left front edge (1 button at each corner of the flower square, the rest evenly spaced along the front edge of the upper part). Use the holes of the picot edge as buttonholes.
