Stitch Patterns and Charts
Polka Dot Pattern
Number of stitches is a multiple of 12 + 3 (6) 9.
Work according to charts 1 and 2. Start with the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat continuously, and end with the stitches after the repeat. In rows marked with “”, work from 2 balls of yarn, and to change the color of the “cups,” work the sc before the “cup” already in ecru thread, then continue working in black after the “cup.”
Repeat rows 1–10 continuously.
Carry the unused ecru thread loosely along the wrong side of the work and pick it up again in the following row.
Note! To avoid tight strands on the wrong side of the work, the ecru threads can also be cut after each “cup,” tied off, and woven in.

Edging
Make a chain of 1 ch plus 1 turning chain and work according to chart 3.
Work rows 1–4 once, then repeat rows 3 + 4 continuously.

Lace Trim
Number of stitches in the starting row is a multiple of 3 + 2.
Work as for the “cup” pattern, but according to chart 4. Start with the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat continuously, and end with the stitches after the repeat. Work rows 1–6 once.

Gauge
16.5 sts x 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in the “cup” pattern with a 4.5 mm hook.

Instructions
Left Front
With black yarn and a 4.5 mm hook, make a chain of 39 (42) 45 ch plus 1 turning chain and work in the “cup” pattern; for sizes 2 and 3, additionally start with 3 or 6 sc respectively.
After 2 cm from the starting row, decrease 1 st for shaping along the right edge, then 3 x 1 st every 4th row = 35 (38) 41 sts.
After 11.5 (10.5) 9.5 cm from the starting row, increase again 1 st along the right edge, then 3 x 1 st every 4th row according to the pattern = 39 (42) 45 sts.
After 30 (29) 28 cm from the starting row, bind off 5 sts along the right edge for the armhole, then 1 x 3 sts and 1 x 1 st in the following rows = 30 (33) 36 sts.
After 28 cm from the starting row, bind off 10 sts along the left edge for the neckline, then 1 x 4 sts and 2 x 1 st every 2nd row.
On the remaining 14 (17) 20 shoulder stitches, finish work after 49 (50) 51 cm from the starting row.
Right Front
Work the same as the left front, but mirrored, and with 4 buttonholes. For the 1st buttonhole, after 2 cm from the starting row, skip stitches 3–5, working 3 ch. Work the remaining 3 buttonholes at 7.5 cm intervals in the same way.
Back
For the back corner, using black yarn, make a chain of 1 ch plus 1 turning chain and work in the “cup” pattern according to chart 2.
Work the side increases according to the chart = 51 sts. When increasing more than one stitch at the end of a row, work a half double crochet, and starting from the 2nd increase, work the half double crochet into the base of the previous one.
After 6 cm = 11 rows from the starting row, increase 9 (12) 15 sts on both sides = 69 (75) 81 sts (= bottom edge).
Work the decreases and increases for shaping and armholes on both sides as for the fronts = 51 (57) 63 sts.
After 46 (47) 48 cm from the bottom edge, bind off the center 17 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately.
For shaping the inner edge, bind off 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st every 2nd row.
On the remaining 14 (17) 20 shoulder stitches, finish work at the same height as the fronts.
Finishing
Sew the seams.
Work 1 row or 1 round of crab stitch (= sc worked from left to right) around the bottom edge and armhole edges in black yarn.
With red yarn and a 4 mm hook, work approx. 150 cm of edging (measure against the finished piece) and sew it along the front edges and neckline.
For the lace trim at the neckline, with white yarn and a 3 mm hook, make a chain of 203 ch and work the lace trim. Sew the lace to the wrong side of the neckline edge.
Sew on the buttons.
