Sizes: 40/42 (44/46) 48/50

You will need:

  • 750 (800) 850 g of gray Bolero yarn (70% cotton, 30% polyamide, 80 m/50 g);
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook;
  • gray satin ribbon, 100 cm long and 0.5 cm wide.

Technique

Main pattern: multiple of 4 sts + 1 + 3 turning ch. Work from Chart 1. Begin each row with the sts before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat, and end with the sts after the repeat. Work rows 1-3 once, then repeat rows 3 and 4.

Lace/collar: multiple of 16 sts + 15 starting sts. Work from Chart 2. Begin each row with the sts before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat, and end with the sts after the repeat. Work rows 1-11 once.

Gauge: 19.25 foundation sts, or 14.5 sts of main pattern and 10 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Crocheting the Jacket

Back and fronts: work together up to the armholes. Chain 177 (193) 209 sts + 3 turning ch and work in main pattern = 133 (145) 157 sts. The center 65 (71) 77 sts form the back, the remaining 34 (37) 40 sts on each side form the fronts. After 36 (38) 40 cm, set aside 21 sts on each side for the lace insert = 91 (103) 115 sts. After 13 cm from the start of the insert, divide the work and first finish the right front on the first 13 (16) 19 sts. For the armhole, at the division edge decrease 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in each row. Finish the right front after 21 (22) 23 cm from the division on the remaining 10 (13) 16 sts. Then work the back on the next 65 (71) 77 sts. Shape both armholes as for the right front. Finish the back at the same height as the front on the remaining 59 (65) 71 sts. Work the left front symmetrically to the right front on the remaining 13 (16) 19 sts.

Sleeves: chain 49 (53) 57 sts + 3 turning ch and work in main pattern = 37 (40) 43 sts. After 42 cm from the foundation edge, decrease for the sleeve cap on both sides: 3 sts, then 5 x 1 st every 2nd row, and 5 x 1 st every row. Finish the sleeve cap after 16 cm on the remaining 11 (14) 17 sts.

Finishing: sew the shoulder seams. For the lace and collar, work a row of 159 sts around the insert edge and the back neck edge together, starting with 2 sc and alternating 78 x 1 ch and 1 sc, ending with 1 extra sc. For clarity this row is marked below the chart.

Note! Work this row as a wrong-side row.

Then work from Chart 2. Sew the short sides of the lace to the horizontal edges of the insert. Set in the sleeves and sew the sleeve seams. For the tie, thread the satin ribbon at the beginning of the lace through the edge of the left front.
