Roses are a very popular motif for flower embroidery in satin stitch. There are countless rose satin-stitch patterns available, and we have several of them on our site as well.
Hawaiian Hibiscus

This Hawaiian hibiscus flower will look wonderful on your projects.
The skill level is intermediate, and the technique is thread painting, alternating long and short stitches.
You will need: fabric or the item you want to decorate, an embroidery hoop, scissors, and DMC Mouline Special Art. 117 embroidery floss.
You can either retrace the design or download it and transfer it onto the fabric. Then follow the stitching instructions given on the diagram. The key is decoded the same way as before: the letter indicates the stitch type, and the number indicates the thread color.

Satin Stitch Roses

We offer this simple composition as practice for thread painting. Embroidered flowers like these will make a lovely decoration for household items, such as a pillowcase, or for clothing—whichever you prefer.
The chart follows the same structure as the previous ones, using DMC Mouline Special Art. 117 embroidery floss.
This design uses satin stitches, split stitch, and stem stitch.
This is an intermediate-level project, and it won’t take much time to complete.

Rose Buds

These delicate pink rosebuds can be scattered not only on a kitchen towel or apron but also used to decorate clothing.
Since the composition isn’t a single continuous design, you can stitch each bud separately, depending on the size of your fabric.
This project won’t take much time, since it uses a minimal number of stitches: stem stitch and satin stitch.
This pattern is perfect for beginners who are interested in satin-stitch flower embroidery but don’t yet have much experience with complex compositions.
The overall finished size of the motif is 15.4 cm x 20.3 cm.
We use the standard set of embroidery tools, with thread from DMC Mouline Special Art. 117.
