Christmas Satin Stitch: Ornaments
Option 1

You can embroider this ornament design using straight satin stitch as a Christmas gift on a light scarf, kerchief, napkin, or any other item.
The motif is made up of several types of embroidery stitches, marked with letter-and-number codes on the chart.
For fabric, light linen, cotton, or plain Aida cloth all work well.
The main shapes are worked in straight satin stitch. Additional stitches include chain stitch, stem stitch, and fishbone leaf stitch. French knots and a double knot are also used as decorative accents (see the instructions).
The sample was stitched with shiny DMC threads, but if you have trouble matching colors, you can always use conversion charts.
Download the design, print it out, and transfer it onto your fabric.

The chart below shows the stitch codes, where letters indicate the stitch type and numbers indicate the thread color.

Option 2

A small branch with ornaments will make a lovely decoration for your holiday decor all on its own.
The finished design measures 14.5 by 11 cm.
You will need DMC Mouline Special ART 117 and DMC Diamant embroidery threads, a #12 satin stitch needle, and fabric or even-weave cloth for embroidery.

Christmas Wreath

This Christmas wreath is embroidered using angled satin stitch. The motif works well on a napkin, apron, or bag.
It stitches up very quickly and easily, since only two stitch types are used: satin stitch and stem stitch.
Download the chart, transfer it onto your fabric, and follow the embroidery instructions.

Christmas Satin Stitch: Tree

This little tree, which combines satin stitch with other hand embroidery stitches, can also be embroidered on a napkin, scarf, or piece of clothing.
Even a beginner in this technique can handle this Christmas satin stitch design.
The star is embroidered in straight satin stitch.
The tree trunk is worked with stitches of varying length, as in thread painting: one long, one short.
The tree’s branches are embroidered using split stitch.
Download the chart, or draw it by hand onto your fabric, and start stitching.

Christmas Satin Stitch: Snowflake

This gorgeous mandala can be adapted into a Christmas-themed satin stitch design, turning it into a wonderful snowflake.
For this you will need shiny DMC Diamant Grande ART 380 embroidery thread, fabric to embroider on, and a satin stitch embroidery needle.
Transfer the design onto your fabric and follow the embroidery instructions. On the chart, letters indicate the stitch types and numbers indicate the thread colors. By the way, there are no limits on your color scheme — you can embroider your snowflake in a single tone, such as silver or white.
