A handsome men’s hat with a folded brim. The cowl scarf ties closed with a cord.
Pattern Description
You will need:
- 200 g of BOSTON yarn (70% acrylic, 30% wool; 50 g/55 m), color #00092 gray;
- 7 mm circular needles;
- a cable needle
Size: 35 x 64 cm. Patterns and stitches used: 2×2 rib.
Main pattern (multiple of 15 sts): Work from the chart, which shows only right-side rounds. On every 2nd round, work sts as they appear. Repeat rows 1-24 twice.
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm = 16 sts x 18 rows in 2×2 rib. 10 x 10 cm = 14 sts x 18 rows in main pattern.

Instructions
Cast on 88 sts and work in rounds of 2×2 rib. After 4 cm, continue in main pattern, increasing 2 crossed sts evenly in the 1st round = 90 sts. Repeat the 15-st pattern repeat 4 times around and the 24-round repeat 2 times = 48 rounds total in height. To return to 2×2 rib, decrease 2 sts evenly in the next round and work the remaining 88 sts in 2×2 rib. To make two small eyelet holes, after 2 cm of 2×2 rib on the front of the collar, above the center sts, work 2 sts together as a purl decrease and make a matching yarn over. At a height of 8 cm of 2×2 rib, bind off all sts.
Finishing: Fold the top edge of the piece inward by 4 cm and sew in place. Make a cord from yarn held double, 80-90 cm long. Twist it and thread it through the eyelet holes in the cuff.
