Instructions

Men's Cable Knit Turtleneck Sweater - sleeve and body measurements

Back: Cast on 122 (128) sts, starting with a wrong-side row, and work 3 rows in garter stitch. Then distribute the stitches as follows: selvage st, work 2 (5) sts from the chart between arrows a (b) and c, work 22 sts twice between arrows c and e. Work 28 sts between arrows e and f, adding 8 sts as shown on the chart = 36 sts, work 22 sts twice between arrows e and c, work 2 (5) sts between arrows c and a (b), selvage st = 130 (136) sts. Work as established, increasing 24 sts at the beginning and end of the third row, as shown on the chart = 178 (184) sts. Work in the established pattern until the back measures 43 (44) cm from the garter stitch edge. Then bind off 15 (17) sts at the beginning of the next two rows for the armholes = 148 (150) sts. Work in the established pattern for 23 (24) cm of armhole depth. Bind off, and at the same time work 3 sts together as k3tog twice and 2 sts together as k2tog once over the cable sections.

Front: Work as for the back until the armhole measures 17 (18) cm. Continue working to the center 20 sts, attach yarn from a new ball, bind off the center 20 sts, and work to the end of the row. Continue working both sides at the same time, each from its own ball. Bind off at both edges of the neckline: 3 sts 3 times, 2 sts once, and 1 st 4 times. When the neckline measures 6 cm, bind off the remaining 49 (50) sts for each shoulder.

Sleeves: Starting with a wrong-side row, cast on 66 sts, and work the first stitch after the selvage stitch and the last stitch before the selvage stitch as 1 purl stitch; work in rib, and at the same time, to widen the sleeve, increase 1 st on both sides in the sixth row from the cast-on edge, then in every following sixth row 21 (15) times, then in every following fourth row 3 (12) times = 116 (122) sts. Work the increased stitches into the rib pattern. Work in rib from the cast-on edge until the sleeve measures 52 cm. Place markers at the right and left edges. Work another 5 (6) cm, then bind off loosely.

Work the second sleeve the same way.

Finishing

Smooth out the pieces and pin them out to the schematic measurements, cover with a damp cloth, and leave to dry.

Sew the side and shoulder seams, and the sleeve seams up to the markers.

With the circular needles, pick up and knit 104 sts along the neckline edge. Join to work in the round and work in rib for 22 cm. Bind off loosely in pattern. Sew in the sleeves. Fold the collar outward.
