Sizes: (S) M (L)
Finished measurements:
- Waist circumference: 100 (106) 112 cm
- Sweater length: 68 (70) 72 (74) 76 cm
- Sleeve length (inner side): 42 (50) 51 (52) 53 cm
You will need:
- Yarn: Veljesta Raita (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 300 m/150 g) – 600 (650) 700 (750) 300 g melange
- 3.5 mm and 4 mm knitting needles
Stitch pattern: Work according to the instructions and the chart. Rib: *p2, k2*, repeat from * to *. On the wrong side, knit the knit sts as knits and purl the purl sts as purls.
Stockinette stitch: knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side.
Gauge: in stockinette stitch, 18 sts and 26 rows = 10 cm.
Cable panel on right side: 51 sts = 21 cm
Front: Cast on 108 (108) 118 (124) 132 sts with 3.5 mm needles and begin working the pattern, starting with the first row in the following order (wrong side): *p2, k2*, repeat * to * 6 (6) 7 (8) 9 more times. Work 6 sts from the left edge of the chart, then work *p2, k2*, repeat * to * 6 (6) 7 (8) 9 more times.
Work the stitches in this order. First work rows 1-21 of the chart, then repeat rows 6-21. When the piece measures 4 cm, change from 3.5 mm to 4 mm needles. Continue working the cable panel over the center 52 sts, and work the remaining sts on either side in stockinette stitch. Note: For size M, add 2 sts to each edge of the stockinette section = 108 (112) 116 (124) 132 sts.
When the piece measures 44 (45) 46 (47) 48 cm, bind off 4 (4) 5 (5) 6 sts at each edge for the armhole. Then continue decreasing at each edge every other row 5 (5) 6 (8) 8 x 1 st as follows: work 3 knit sts from the right edge, k2tog, continue in this row until 5 sts remain on the needle, k2tog through the back loop, then k3. After all decreases, 90 (94) 94 (98) 106 sts remain on the needle. When the armhole measures 24 (25) 26 (27) 28 cm, bind off 20 (21) 20 (21) 24 sts at each edge for the shoulder and continue working the pattern over the center 59 (52) 54 (56) 28 sts for the collar. When the collar measures about 4 cm after row 17 or row 9 of the pattern, bind off all stitches at once.
Back: Cast on 94 (98) 102 (110) 118 sts with 3.5 mm needles and work in rib for 4 cm. Change to 4 mm needles and continue in stockinette stitch. When the back measures 44 (45) 46 (47) 48 cm, bind off 4 (4) 5 (5) 6 sts at each edge for the armhole. Continue decreasing every other row 5 (5) 6 (8) 8 x 1 st as follows: work 3 knit sts from the right edge, k2tog, work the row until 5 sts remain on the needle, k2tog through the back loop, then k3.
After all decreases, 76 (80) 80 (84) 92 sts remain. When the armhole measures 24 (25) 26 (27) 28 cm, bind off 20 (21) 20 (21) 24 sts at each edge for the shoulder and continue working the center 36 (38) 40 (42) 44 sts for the collar. When the collar reaches the same height as on the front, bind off all stitches at once.
Sleeves: Cast on 60 (60) 68 (68) 68 sts with 3.5 mm needles and begin working the pattern. Row 1 (wrong side): *p2, k2*, repeat 2 (2) 3 (3) 3 more times. Work 6 sts from the left edge of the chart, then repeat the 8-stitch pattern 3 times, work 6 sts from the right edge of the chart, then work *p2, k2*, repeating 2 (2) 3 (3) 3 more times. Work the stitches in this order. Continue working rows 1-21 of the chart, then repeat rows 6-21. When the piece reaches the given length, change from 3.5 mm to 4 mm needles. Continue working the cable panel over the center 36 sts, and stockinette stitch on both sides. When the sleeve measures 10 cm, increase 1 st at each edge. Continue increasing every 6 (8) 8 (6) 6 rows 15 (13) 2 (15) 12 times, and then every 4 (4) 6 (4) 4 rows 0 (4) 13 (2) 7 times = 92 (96) 200 (104) 108 sts. Work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. When the sleeve measures 49 (50) 51 (52) 53 cm, bind off 4 (4) 5 (5) 5 sts at each edge for the armhole.
Continue decreasing at each edge every 2nd row 12 (13) 14 (15) 17 x 1 st, working 3 knit sts from the right edge, k2tog, work the row until 5 sts remain on the needle. K2tog through the back loop, then k3. Bind off all remaining stitches at once.
Finishing: Sew the shoulder seams and the collar side seams. Set in the sleeves at the armholes. Sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
