Blue Slip-Stitch Pattern Pullover

Blue Slip-Stitch Pattern Pullover - man wearing blue pullover

Sizes: 48/50 (52/54).

For the pullover you will need:

  • 350 (400) g of dark blue yarn and 300 (350) g of medium blue yarn (55% wool, 45% polyacrylic, 125 m/50 g);
  • straight needles size 4 mm and circular needles size 3 mm.

Slip-Stitch Pattern

Number of stitches is a multiple of 24 + 0 (10) + 2 selvage sts.

Work from the chart, which shows only right-side (RS) rows; on wrong-side (WS) rows, work the stitches in the corresponding colors as purl sts, and slip all slipped stitches purlwise with the yarn held in front of the work.

For size 48/50, start with 1 selvage st, repeat the pattern repeat, end with 1 selvage st.

For size 52/54, start with 1 selvage st and the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat, end with the stitches after the repeat and 1 selvage st.

Repeat rows 1 through 44, keeping the color sequence.

Gauge: 21 sts and 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Knitting the Pullover

Back

Using a crossed cast-on with dark blue yarn, cast on 122 (132) sts and work in the slip-stitch pattern.

After 65 cm = 234 rows (66 cm = 238 rows) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 26 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

For shaping, bind off at the inside edge every 2nd row: 1 x 4 sts and 2 x 2 sts. After 67 cm = 242 rows (68 cm = 246 rows) from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 40 (45) shoulder sts on each side.

Front

Work the same way, but with a deeper neckline.

To do this, after 58 cm = 210 rows (59 cm = 214 rows) from the cast-on edge, bind off the center 10 sts, then every 2nd row bind off 2 x 3 sts, 2 x 2 sts, 4 x 1 st, and every 4th row bind off 2 x 1 st.

Sleeves

Using a crossed cast-on with dark blue yarn, cast on 56 sts and work in the slip-stitch pattern as follows: start with 1 selvage st, work 15 sts from arrow A to the end of the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat once, end with 15 sts before arrow B and 1 selvage st. At the same time, increase for the sleeve shaping on both sides from the cast-on edge every 8th row 2 times, and alternately every 6th and 4th row 29 times by 1 st = 118 sts, working the increased stitches into the pattern.

After 46 cm = 166 rows from the cast-on edge, bind off all stitches.

Finishing

Sew the shoulder seams; pick up and knit 128 sts around the neckline with dark blue yarn on circular needles and work in rib (= alternating 2 knit, 2 purl).

At a band height of 3 cm, bind off all stitches in pattern.

Set in the sleeves, sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
