Stitch Patterns and Charts
Main Pattern
Chain a multiple of 15 + 1 sts.
Work according to the chart.
Begin each row with 3 turning chains instead of the first dc, plus the stitches before the repeat; repeat the pattern repeat continuously, and end with the stitches after the repeat.
Work rows 1-5 once, then repeat rows 2-5 continuously; starting from row 2, always work the sc and dc into the chain of the previous row.
The starting and ending stitches are referred to in the instructions as 1/2 pattern repeat.

Gauge
16.5 starting sts x 6 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in the main pattern with a 7 mm hook.

Instructions
Back
Chain 76 (106) sts + 3 turning chains and work in the main pattern = 4 (6) repeats + 1/2 repeat on each side. End the piece after 66.5 cm = 40 rows (73.5 cm = 44 rows) from the starting chain; the middle 2 repeats (middle 2 repeats + 1/2 repeat on each side) form the neckline, and the outer 1 1/2 repeats (1 repeat + 1/2 repeat on each side) form the shoulders.
Front
Work the same as the back, but with a neckline. To do this, after 56.5 cm = 34 rows (63.5 cm = 38 rows) from the starting chain, leave the middle 2 repeats (middle 2 repeats + 1/2 repeat on each side) unworked and finish both sides separately.
At the same height as the back, finish work on the remaining shoulder stitches – 1 1/2 repeats (1 repeat + 1/2 repeat on each side) on each side.
Sleeves
For each sleeve, chain 46 (61) sts + 3 turning chains and work in the main pattern = 2 (3) repeats + 1/2 repeat on each side.
After 16.5 cm = 10 rows from the starting chain, for the sleeve shaping, evenly increase by 1/2 repeat on both sides over the next 12 rows = 4 (5) repeats.
End the piece after 40 cm = 24 rows from the starting chain.
Finishing
Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in the sleeves, then sew the side and sleeve seams. Work 1 round of “crab stitch” (= sc worked right to left) around all edges.
