Instructions

Back

With burgundy yarn, make a chain of 67 (75) 83 ch + 3 turning ch and work in main pattern.

After 66 cm = 56 rows, leave the center 25 (27) 29 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

After 67 cm = 57 rows from the beginning, finish work with 21 (24) 27 sts.

Left Front

With burgundy yarn, make a chain of 31 (35) 39 ch + 3 turning ch and work in main pattern.

After 60 cm = 51 rows from the beginning, decrease for the neckline along the left edge 1 x 6 sts, then in every row another 1 x 3 (4) 4 sts and 1 x 1 (1) 2 sts; to do this, skip stitches at the beginning of the row by working slip stitches, and leave stitches at the end of the row. At the same height as the back, finish work on the remaining 21 (24) 27 shoulder sts.

Right Front

Work as the left front, but mirrored.

Finishing

Sew the shoulder seams.

With burgundy yarn, pick up 58 (66) 74 sts on circular needles along the upper 20 (22) 24 cm of the side edges, including the shoulder seams, and work 3 cm of ribbing for the armhole bands. Then bind off in pattern.

Sew the side seams and the armhole band seams.

With burgundy yarn, pick up 34 (38) 42 sts along the lower edges of the fronts and 74 (82) 90 sts along the edge of the back; work 4 cm of ribbing on all 142 (158) 174 sts for the band. Then bind off in pattern.

Pick up 86 sts on circular needles along the front edges and the short sides of the band, and work ribbing for the bands.

On the right front band, 1.5 cm from the cast-on edge, work 5 buttonholes in the next right-side row as follows: bind off 2 sts each, then cast them on again in the next row. Work the bottom buttonhole 24 sts from the edge, and the next 4 spaced 12 sts apart. When the band measures 3 cm, bind off all stitches in pattern.

With burgundy yarn, pick up 70 sts on circular needles along the neckline edge and along half of the short sides of the bands on the inside; work 8.5 cm of ribbing for the collar. Bind off, and sew on the buttons.
