Instructions

Back

With black yarn, cast on 132 (142) 152 sts and work 24 rows in Pattern 3 between the selvage stitches. Over Pattern 3, work 9 rows of Pattern 4 in yellow, starting at arrow A = 6 sts before the repeat, 11 (12) 13 repeats, 7 sts after the repeat = 145 (157) 169 sts.

For the side slant, decrease 1 x 1 st on both sides in row 2, then 5 x 1 st in every row = 133 (145) 157 sts.

With black yarn, pick up 122 (132) 142 sts along the edge of Pattern 4 (= row 1 of Pattern 3) and work 23 rows in Pattern 3. Over Pattern 3, work 9 rows of Pattern 4 in yellow, starting at arrow B = 11 (12) 13 repeats, 1 st after the repeat = 133 (145) 157 sts.

For the side slant, decrease 1 x 1 st on both sides in row 2, then 5 x 1 st in every row = 121 (133) 145 sts.

With black yarn, pick up 110 (120) 130 sts along the edge of Pattern 4 (= row 1 of Pattern 3) and work 23 rows in Pattern 3. Over Pattern 3, work 9 rows of Pattern 4 in yellow, starting at arrow A = 6 sts before the repeat, 9 (10) 11 repeats, 7 sts after the repeat = 121 (133) 145 sts.

At 76.5 cm from the beginning row, bind off the center 38 (42) 48 sts for the neckline. Finish the shoulders separately, binding off at the neckline edge 1 x 5 sts and 1 x 3 sts every 2nd row.

At 78.5 cm from the beginning row, bind off the remaining shoulder stitches straight across.

Front

Work as for the back, but with a deeper neckline. To do this, at 63.5 cm from the beginning row (= row 3 of Pattern 4), leave the center 7 sts unworked.

Finish the shoulders separately, decreasing at the neckline edge in every row 6 x 3 sts (2 x 4 sts and 4 x 3 sts), 4 x 4 sts and 2 x 3 sts. With black yarn, pick up 24 (28) 32 sts for each shoulder (= row 1 of Pattern 3) and work 21 rows in Pattern 3, decreasing for the neckline along the inner edge 7 (8) 9 x 1 st every 2nd row. At the same height as the back, bind off the remaining shoulder stitches straight across.

Finishing

Lightly dampen the pieces, stretch them to the measurements given in the schematic, and let dry completely.

Sew the shoulder seams. Crochet around the neckline in yellow with 2 rounds of single crochet and 1 round of “crab stitch” (= single crochet worked left to right). Sew the side seams, leaving the top 22 (23) 24 cm open for the armholes. Crochet around the armholes with 1 row of single crochet and 1 row of “crab stitch” in yellow.

Once finished, lightly steam all the seams.
