Gauge

15.5 sts x 6.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in main pattern,

17 sts x 6.5 rows/rounds = 10 x 10 cm, worked in “Fan” pattern.

Important! Work the “Fan” pattern directly along the working edges of the waist band. At first, the number of stitches in the “Fan” pattern matches the number of stitches along the waistline, but it increases as the work grows in height. This is shown on the schematic as a side slant.

Arrows on the schematic = direction of work.

Instructions

Back

Begin with the waist band: chain 25 sts + 3 turning chains and work in the main pattern.

After 48 cm = 31 rows (52 cm = 34 rows) 55 cm = 36 rows from the starting chain, finish the piece. Work the right working edge of the waist band in rows of the “Fan” pattern, working 87 (93) 99 sts = 12 (13) 14 repeats + starting and ending stitches in row 1.

After 17 cm = 11 rows from the waist band, decrease 1 x 6 sts on both sides for the armholes (= at the beginning of the row work a slip stitch, at the end of the row leave stitches unworked) = 75 (81) 87 sts.

After 31 cm = 20 rows (32.5 cm = 21 rows) 34 cm = 22 rows from the waist band, leave the middle 29 (31) 33 sts unworked for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

After 37 cm = 24 rows (38.5 cm = 25 rows) 40 cm = 26 rows from the band, finish off on the remaining shoulder stitches – 23 (25) 27 sts each.

Front

Work the same as the back, but with a deeper neckline. To do this, already after 23 cm = 15 rows (24.5 cm = 16 rows) 26 cm = 17 rows from the waist band, leave the middle 29 (31) 33 sts unworked, and finish off on the remaining shoulder stitches – 23 (25) 27 sts each – at the same height as the back.

Sleeves

Work the sleeves from the top down. First, sew the shoulder seams. Work along the lengthwise edge of the armhole in the main pattern, working 59 (63) 68 sts in row 1, which will allow you to ease in the armhole. Finish the work when the sleeve measures 6 cm = 4 rows.

Finishing

Sew the armhole seams as well as the side seams and sleeve seams.

For the peplum, work the left working edge of the waist band in rounds of the “Fan” pattern, working 192 (204) 216 sts in round 1. Finish after 21.5 cm = 14 rounds (23 cm = 15 rounds) 24.5 cm = 16 rounds.

Edge the neckline with 1 round of single crochet (sc) and “crab stitch” (= sc worked from left to right).
