Main Stitch Pattern

Single crochet (sc). Begin each row with 1 extra turning chain and end with 1 sc into the first sc of the previous row.

Jacquard Pattern

The number of stitches in the starting row is a multiple of 4 + 1.

Work according to the chart from separate balls of yarn using the Norwegian (intarsia) technique, carrying the unused yarn loosely along the wrong side of the work and catching it in the next row. When changing colors, work the last stitch of the old color together with the new color.

Repeat the pattern repeat continuously and finish according to the chart.

Work rows 1–40 once, then continue in red.

Schematic

Instructions

Bustier

Left Side of Bustier

With lilac yarn, chain 17 and work 1 row in the main stitch pattern, then continue in the jacquard pattern.

After 8.5 cm = 16 rows from the starting row, chain 16 at the left edge of the work and continue working in the jacquard pattern over all 33 stitches.

After 14 cm = 26 rows from the starting row, finish the piece.

Right Side of Bustier

Work as a mirror image.

Ties for the Back and Neck

Make 4 pieces

With lilac yarn, work 1 chain about 40 cm long and work 1 row of slip stitches around it.

Finishing

Sew the seams, matching the markers on the schematic (* to *).

Work 1 row of slip stitches in white around the edge of the starting row and the outer side edges of the bustier pieces.

Then work 1 row of single crochet in white around both sides of the side edges of the bustier pieces.

For the center connector, attach lilac yarn at the inner corner, chain about 3 cm, cut the yarn but not too short, thread on 1 turquoise, 1 red, and 1 turquoise bead, and attach the chain to the second bustier piece. Weave in the ends well.

Make 2 tassels from yarn of all colors (finished length = 5 cm), tie them with lilac yarn, thread on 2 red and 1 turquoise bead, and attach both decorative cords to the middle of the connector.

Sew the neck ties with lilac yarn below the top of the cups and thread on 2 turquoise and red beads.

Sew the back ties to the side corners of the cups. Tie 1 tassel very tightly into each stitch along the lower edge of the cups (made from 1 white, lilac, teal, and light blue strand about 8 cm long).

Shorts

Right Leg

With lilac yarn, chain 97 + 1 turning chain and work in the jacquard pattern. After 4 cm = 8 rows from the starting row, leave 3 stitches unworked on both sides for shaping.

Then leave unworked at the right edge of the work 4 x 1 st every 2nd row, and at the left edge of the work every 2nd row 2 x 2, 3 x 1 st, and every 4th row 2 x 1 st = 78 sts.

After 21 cm = 40 rows from the starting row (= end of the chart), continue working in red in the main stitch pattern.

After 7 rows = 3.5 cm of working in red, work short rows for shaping.

Row 1 (= wrong-side row): work every 10th and 11th st together 4 times (= 40 sts), turn the work;

Row 2: 4 sl st, 36 sc, turn the work;

Row 3: 1 turning ch, 32 sc, turn the work;

Row 4: 4 sl st, 28 sc, turn the work;

Row 5: 1 turning ch, 24 sc, turn the work;

Row 6: 4 sl st, 20 sc, turn the work;

Row 7: sc across all 74 sts, working every 7th and 8th st together = 69 sts;

Row 8: sc.

Finish the piece here.

Left Leg

Work as a mirror image.

Belt

Work as for the neck tie, but chain about 120 cm long.

Finishing

Sew the side and inseam seams.

Work 1 round of sc very tightly around the waist edge in teal yarn, working every 9th and 10th st together.

Thread the belt through the fourth red row from the end, skipping 6 sts continuously.

Make 3 tassels as described for the top, and thread 5 beads onto the working yarn (alternating 1 red and 1 light green bead).

Sew two decorative cords to the ends of the belt, and the third to the side of the shorts waistband.

Tie tassels into every 2nd stitch along the lower edges of the legs, as described for the top.
