Hello everyone! Today we are going to make a beautiful Kanzashi flower attached to a hair tie.
For this handmade flower, you will need the following materials:
- Pink polka dot satin ribbon (12 pieces, 2.5 cm wide and 6.5 cm long)
- A hair tie (elastic band)
- Two felt circles (3.5 cm in diameter)
- Light green and dark green satin ribbons for the leaves (either 2.5 cm or 5 cm wide)
- Decorative stamens for the center of the flower
Before starting, I carefully singed all the ribbon edges over a flame to prevent them from fraying.
To create the petals, fold the ribbon piece twice at a 90-degree angle. Then, gather the bottom edge of the petal onto a thread. Repeat this process to make all the remaining petals.
Next, we need to make the leaves for our flower. You can use the 2.5 cm wide ribbon for this. Fold the ribbon in half and cut it into a leaf shape using scissors. Then, lightly singe the edges of the blank over a flame on all sides. To give the leaf a realistic curved edge, hold a small section of the ribbon over the flame and gently bend it with your fingers. Once you’ve finished making the wavy edges, fold the leaf with the right side facing inward, run the fold over the flame, and press it with your fingers to create a natural crease down the middle.
After that, take a felt circle with a diameter of 3.5 cm, fold it in half twice to find the exact center, and make a small cut in the middle.
Finally, assemble and glue all the parts together. Your wonderful DIY Kanzashi polka dot ribbon flower is ready!
