In this video tutorial, you will learn an essential cross-stitch technique: working a horizontal row of cross stitches in two steps (also known as the Danish method).
To master this method, follow these simple step-by-step instructions:
- Step 1 (First Pass): Start by stitching a row of half cross stitches from left to right. When making each diagonal stitch, pass the needle vertically from top to bottom through the two right-hand corner holes of each fabric square.
- Step 2 (Return Pass): Once you reach the end of the row, work your way back from right to left to complete the crosses. Mirror the movement by passing the needle vertically from top to bottom through the two left-hand corner holes of each square.
When completed, check the back side of your fabric: if done correctly, the reverse side will show a neat, single row of clean vertical stitches with no tangled threads or bulk.
