Row 5: *K3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, pass slipped st over the sts knitted together, yo, k2*, repeat from * to * to end of round. Repeat these 6 rows.

Instructions

Cast on 56 (56) 64 sts on 2.5 mm double-pointed needles and work in the round in stockinette stitch for about 2.5 cm. Continue working in the round in the lace pattern as described above. When the upper part of the sock measures 7 cm, begin working the heel on the last 15 sts and the first 16 sts of the round = 31 sts. Work back and forth in rows, slipping the first st of each row without knitting it.

IMPORTANT: each time you turn after slipping 1 st, pull the yarn snug so no large holes form.

Row 1: wrong side. Sl 1, purl across until 1 st remains, turn.

Row 2: right side. Sl 1, knit across until 1 st remains, turn.

Row 3: wrong side. Sl 1, purl across until 2 sts remain, turn.

Row 4: right side. Sl 1, knit across until 2 sts remain, turn.

Continue working to the unworked stitch and turning the work so that each row has one more unworked stitch on each side. When there are 10 unworked stitches on each side, continue shaping the heel as follows:

Row 1: wrong side. Sl 1 and purl across to 1 st before the unworked stitch, then pick up the strand between the stitches of the previous row (before the next stitch) with the left needle and purl it together with the last stitch, turn.

Row 2: right side. Sl 1, knit across to 1 st before the unworked stitch, pick up the strand between the stitches of the previous row (before the next stitch) with the left needle and knit it together with the last stitch, turn.

Row 3: wrong side. Work as Row 1, but work one more stitch before picking up and working the strand together.

Row 4: right side. Work as Row 2, but work one more stitch before picking up and working the strand together. Continue in this way until all 31 sts have been worked again. Then continue working in the round on 4 needles.

Note: work the lace pattern only on the upper part of the sock. When the foot length from the center of the heel top measures about 21 (23) 24 cm (or the foot is the desired length), begin working the toe in stockinette stitch: beginning of round – bottom center line.

Rows 1 and 3: knit until 2 sts remain on the needle, sl 1, knit the last stitch and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.

Rows 2 and 4: k2tog and knit to the end of the row. Repeat these decreases until 2 sts remain on each needle. Break the yarn, thread it through the remaining stitches, pull tight, and secure the end.
