Patterns and Charts
Main Stitch Pattern
Work in half double crochet (hdc) in the round, beginning each round with 1 turning chain and ending with a slip stitch into the first hdc of the round.
After round 2, turn the work before each following round (to avoid shifting the start of the rounds).
Stripe Sequence A
Starting with a right-side row, work in the round: 1 row of single crochet (sc) in white, hdc in olive, sc in white, hdc in red, sc in white, hdc in olive, and sc in white = 7 rows total.
Stripe Sequence B
Starting with a right-side row, work in the round: 1 row of sc in white, hdc in green, sc in white, hdc in olive, sc in white, hdc in green, and sc in white = 7 rows total.
Gauge
23 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in main stitch pattern.
Instructions
Make a magic ring with green yarn and work 8 hdc into it; following the sock-crocheting tutorial, increase the toe stitches to 44 (44) 48 sts.
Continue working in the round and work 7 rows in Sequence A, then continue in main stitch pattern with red yarn.
When the foot measures 16 (17) 18 cm from the start of the work, work the stripes in Sequence B, and at 17 (18) 19 cm, following the tutorial, begin increases on both sides of the center stitches for the heel and instep: increase 4 sts on each side 6 (6) 7 times = 68 (68) 76 sts.
Then work 1 row in main stitch pattern with red yarn across all stitches and begin shaping the heel. For this, work back and forth in rows over 15 (15) 17 sts of the heel flap, as described in the tutorial = 19 (19) 21 rows total for the flap. After finishing the heel, work the upper part of the sock in the round in main stitch pattern with red yarn, decreasing a total of 4 (4) 6 sts in the first two rows as indicated in the tutorial = 44 (44) 48 sts.
After 2 rows from the start of the upper sock, work 1 more row of sc in white and edge the sock with crab stitch (= sc worked from left to right).
If you are making short socks, finish here. If you want to make taller socks, continue working according to the tutorial until the desired length is reached.
Work the left sock the same way.
