Square

Work in the main pattern over 36 sts and 22 rows.

Triangle

Work in the main pattern over 36 sts and 22 rows, decreasing along the left or right edge for the slant as shown on the schematic: in row 2 decrease 1 x 2 sts, then in every row 20 times alternately decrease 1 x 1 st and 1 x 2 sts = 4 sts. For the point, after 22 rows work 2 x 2 sc together in the following right-side row and finish off on the remaining 2 sts.

Border

After completing each piece, work a border of single crochet along the inner edges using papaya-colored yarn: work 36 sc along each edge. Only then work the next piece, working it directly onto the border, inserting the hook through the back loops only of the border stitches in row 1.

Patchwork

Work the squares and triangles according to the schematic and instructions as a single piece.

Arrows on the schematic = direction of work.

All pieces are numbered on the schematic in the order they are worked; letters indicate yarn colors.

Gauge

1 square = 20.5 x 20.5 cm,

triangle = side length 20.5 cm, base length 29 cm.

Schematic

Instructions

For square 1, using brown yarn, make a chain of 36 ch + 1 turning ch and work 22 rows in the main pattern. Work the border along the right edge and the last row.

Continue working according to the schematic, always working the border along the inner edges of each piece before working the next piece.

After piece 14, turn the work and work triangles 15-20 in turn, without joining their left edges and without working the border on them anymore.

Finishing

Sew the seams between triangles 15-20 and the neighboring squares using overcast stitches, again catching only the back loops of the border stitches.

Fold the scarf in half with wrong sides together and sew the hood seam on the right side between the markers (see * on the schematic), joining the edges with sc using papaya-colored yarn.

Work single crochet along the remaining outer edges using papaya-colored yarn.
