Patterns and Charts
Filet Pattern with Open Mesh
Work according to the chart in rows, back and forth.
For one open mesh square, work 1 dc and ch 2. Begin each row with ch 3 to replace the first dc, and end with 1 extra dc worked into the 3rd chain of the previous row’s turning chain.
Increase stitches according to the chart.
Work rows 1-5 once, then repeat rows 4-5 continuously, continuing to work the increases on both sides in the same way.

Rose Motif
Work according to the filet pattern chart.

Gauge
17 sts x 7.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in filet pattern
Schematic

Instructions
Chain 4 + ch 3 turning chain and work according to the filet pattern with open mesh squares.
After 20 cm = 15 rows from the starting row, work the rose motif on the middle 31 squares. After 61.5 cm = 46 rows from the starting row, finish the motif.
Continue working the remaining stitches in the filet pattern with open mesh, and after 68 cm = 51 rows from the starting row, finish the piece.
Finishing
Attach 1 tassel (= 3 strands, each 45 cm long) to each square along the side edges.
Make 3 thick tassels (finished length 8 cm), leaving the tying strands somewhat longer. Thread 5 beads onto the tying strands in the sequence B-A-B-A-C and use them to attach all 3 tassels to the top corner of the shawl.
