Knitting the Sweater
Back
Using 4.5 mm needles, cast on 98 sts and work 9 cm in 2×2 rib. Continue in stockinette stitch with 5 mm needles. At 34 cm from the rib, decrease for the armholes on both sides every 2nd row, 3 sts from the edge, 7 times by 1 st = 84 sts. After 24 cm from the start of the armholes, bind off 22 sts for each shoulder and 40 sts for the neckline. Total height 67 cm.
Front
Work as for the back. At 48 cm, bind off the center 18 sts for the neckline and decrease on both sides every 4th row, 2 sts from the edge, 11 times by 1 st. At a total height of 67 cm, bind off 22 sts for each shoulder.
Sleeves
Using 4.5 mm needles, cast on 46 sts and work 9 cm in 2×2 rib. Continue in stockinette stitch with 5 mm needles, increasing on both sides every 4th row 17 times by 1 st = 80 sts. At 39 cm from the rib, decrease for the sleeve cap every 2nd row, 3 sts from the edge, 11 times by 2 sts, then bind off the remaining 14 sts. Total height about 58 cm.
Collar
Work sideways. Using 4.5 mm needles, cast on 18 sts and work in 2×2 rib, keeping a 2-st selvage on the left side and increasing on the right side every 2nd row 24 times by 1 st = 42 sts. Then work straight for 22 cm and work decreases in reverse order. Bind off the remaining 18 sts. Total height about 62 cm.
Finishing
Pin the pieces to the pattern shape, dampen and let dry. Sew the seams and set in the sleeves. Attach the collar, overlapping the left side over the right, sewing the selvage edges to the straight part of the neckline.
On the left side of the collar, crochet 2 button loops from chain sts. Sew on the buttons.
