To knit the men’s cardigan, you will need:
- SUPERLANA KLASIK Batik yarn, color no. 3160, 4 skeins;
- SUPERLANA KLASIK Batik yarn, color no. 26, 4 skeins;
- 5 mm needles
Charts and instructions
FRONT: Cast on 131 sts. Work in garter stitch, alternating 1 row in brown yarn and 2 rows in Batik yarn. Increase 1 st at one edge every row (6 times) to shape the armhole. Then, at the same edge, cast on an additional 64 sts. At a total height of 17.5 cm (to shape the neckline), bind off 18 sts at the same edge in one step. In the following rows, bind off 2 sts 5 times and 1 st 3 times. Starting from the edge at the neckline, knit 4 sts and bind off 3 sts (buttonhole), work 27 sts and bind off 3 sts again. Continue in this way, binding off 3 sts every 27 sts to form the buttonholes. In the next row, cast on 3 extra sts over each bound-off section. Work 2 more rows in garter stitch, then bind off all sts. Knit the second front to match, but without buttonholes. SLEEVE: Cast on 15 sts and work, increasing 1 st at one edge and 15 sts at the other edge every row. Make a total of 6 increases of 15 sts. Continue knitting, increasing 1 st at the other edge. After working 42 rows in garter stitch, continue decreasing 1 st at the edge with the single-stitch increases. After working 30 rows in garter stitch, at the edge with the single-stitch increases, decrease 15 sts 6 times until 15 sts remain, then bind off all sts.
BACK: Cast on 131 sts. Work, increasing 1 st at one edge every row (6 times). Then, at the same edge, cast on an additional 64 sts. At a height of 45 cm from the armhole, to shape the second armhole, bind off 64 sts in one step. Then, at the same edge, decrease 1 st 6 times, then bind off the remaining sts. For the collar, cast on 20 sts and work in garter stitch, alternating rows in different colored yarns.
Knit until the piece matches the length of the neckline. Sew the shoulder seams and sew the collar to the neckline.
LARGE POCKET: Cast on 40 sts and knit a square measuring 15 cm on each side. For the pocket flap, cast on 15 sts and work for 15 cm.
SMALL POCKET: Cast on 32 sts and knit a square measuring 12 cm on each side. Sew the pockets and flaps onto the jacket as shown in the diagram. On the flaps, make buttonholes at the 5th and 25th stitch.
