Stitch Pattern

See charts A1 and A2. The charts show the pattern as seen from the right side.

Raglan

On RS: three sts before the marker: p2tog, k2 (marker between these 2 sts), ssp2.

On WS: three sts before the marker: ssk2, p2 (marker between these 2 sts), k2tog.

Front and Back

Work in the round on circular needles from the bottom up.

Cast on 232-252-272-296-320-360 sts on 3.5 mm circular needles. Work in 2×2 rib for 4 cm. Switch to 4 mm circular needles and knit 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME decrease evenly by 48-52-56-60-64-72 sts = 184-200-216-236-256-288 sts. Continue in stockinette stitch. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Place a marker on each side = 92-100-108-118-128-144 sts between the markers. When piece measures 6 cm, increase 1 st on each side of both markers (= 4 sts). Repeat the increase at 15-16-17-18-19-20 cm, and at 24-25-26-27-28-29 cm = 196-212-228-248-268-300 sts. When piece measures 26-27-28-29-30-31 cm, work in pattern from chart A1. When A1 has been worked once vertically, work in pattern from chart A2. When A2 has been worked for 10 cm, work A1 once more. Continue with A2. At 44-45-46-47-48-49 cm, bind off 4 sts on each side of each marker = 90-98-106-116-126-142 sts on front and back. Set the work aside and knit the sleeves.

Sleeve

Work in the round on double-pointed needles.

Cast on 68-68-72-72-76-76 sts on 3.5 mm double-pointed needles. Work in 2×2 rib for 4 cm. Switch to 4 mm double-pointed needles and knit 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME decrease evenly by 14-12-14-12-14-12 sts = 54-56-58-60-62-64 sts. Place a marker at the beginning of the round = the inner (body-side) middle of the sleeve. At 8 cm, increase 1 st on each side of the marker. Repeat the increase every 11-8-7-6-4-3 cm, another 4-5-6-7-10-11 times = 64-68-72-76-84-88 sts. AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 37-37-36-36-35-35 cm, work in pattern from chart A1; when A1 has been worked once vertically, work in pattern from chart A2. Work A2 for 10 cm, then work A1 once, and continue in A2 while increasing sts. When sleeve measures 55-55-54-54-53-53 cm, adjust so you are on the same row of chart A2 as on the back and front. Bind off 4 sts on each side of the marker = 56-60-64-68-76-80 sts. Set aside and knit the other sleeve.

Yoke

READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH BEFORE CONTINUING:

Transfer the sleeves onto the circular needle at the armholes, joining with the front and back = 292-316-340-368-404-444 sts. Continue in chart A2, AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 46-47-48-49-50-51 cm, begin the raglan decreases – SEE THE NOTE AND TIP ABOVE. Place a marker at each transition between sleeve and body (= 4 markers). Marker 1 is the transition between the left sleeve and the front.

Work the decreases differently on the sleeves and on the body.

Make the decreases after marker 2 and marker 4, and before marker 3 and marker 1 (sleeve decreases) as follows: every 4th row 7-7-6-6-4-2 times, and every 2nd row 12-14-17-19-25-29 times.

Make the decreases after marker 1 and marker 3, and before marker 2 and marker 4 (back and front decreases) as follows: every 2nd row 24-24-25-25-25-22 times, and every row 3-5-6-9-12-21 times.

Neckline

AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 59-61-63-65-67-69 cm, bind off the center 10-14-18-22-26-30 sts on the front, and work back and forth in rows. Continue the pattern and raglan as before, AT THE SAME TIME bind off on each side of the neckline every row: 2 times 2 sts, and 4 times 1 st. After the raglan decreases and neckline shaping = 82-86-90-94-98-102 sts. Knit 1 row, AT THE SAME TIME decrease evenly by 12-14-16-18-20-22 sts = 70-72-74-76-78 sts.

Neckband

Work in the round. Pick up 54-56-58-60-62-64 sts along the neckline edge on 3.5 mm needles = 124-128-132-136-140-144 sts. Knit 2 rows, purl 2 rows, then work in 2×2 rib. Continue this way, and at 3.5 cm of neckband (including the first 4 rows), bind off all sts, purl over purl and knit over knit.

Finishing

Sew the underarm seams.
