Knitting the Sweater
Back: using 3.5 mm needles, cast on 121(133)137(145)157 sts, work the 1st (wrong side) row in knit sts. Then work in the main pattern, starting from row 1 marked by the arrow according to your size at the bottom of the chart, then repeat the 12-st pattern repeat as many times as needed. Repeat rows 1-10 vertically. After working 2 rows of the main pattern, switch to 4 mm needles. At a work height of 41(42)43(44)45 cm, bind off for the armholes on both sides every 2nd row as follows: 1 time x 5(5)6(5)5 sts, 1 time x 3 sts, 1(1)1(2)2 times x 2 sts, and 4(4)5(5)5 times x 1 st = 93(105)105(111)123 sts. Continue working straight.
At an armhole height of 23(24)25(26)27 cm, bind off the center 29(29)29(31)31 sts for the neckline and continue working only the right side, setting aside the stitches of the left side. To shape the neckline curve, bind off on the inside edge every 2nd row: 1 time x 3 sts and 1 time x 2 sts. At an armhole height of 26(27)28(29)30 cm, bind off the remaining 27(33)33(35)41 shoulder sts. At the same time, at a height of 1 cm from the edge, place 4 markers for button positions: the side buttons should be positioned 4 cm from the edges, with the rest spaced evenly between them. Work the left side to match, but at an armhole height of 25(26)27(28)29 cm bind off all stitches.
Front: work to match the back, but with a deeper neckline. To do this, at an armhole height of 16(17)18(19)20 cm, slip the center 17(17)17(19)19 sts onto a holder and set aside. Then work the left side, setting aside the stitches of the right side. To shape the neckline curve, bind off on the inside edge every 2nd row: 1 time x 4 sts, 2 times x 2 sts, and 3 times x 1 st.
At an armhole height of 24(25)26(27)28 cm, work 1.5 cm in garter stitch, then at the positions marked on the back, make buttonholes (yarn over, then knit the next 2 sts together). After that, work another 1.5 cm in garter stitch and bind off the remaining 27(33)33(35)41 shoulder sts. Work the right side to match, but bind off the stitches at an armhole height of 25(26)27(28)29 cm.
Sleeves: using 3.5 mm needles, cast on 57(57)61(61)69 sts, work the 1st (wrong side) row in knit sts. Then work in the main pattern, starting from row 1 marked by the arrow according to your size at the top of the chart, then repeat the 12-st pattern repeat as many times as needed. Repeat rows 1-10 vertically. After working 2 rows of the main pattern, switch to 4 mm needles.
At a work height of 15(13)14(12)16 cm, increase 1 st on both sides for the sleeve shaping. Repeat the increases every 4th row 22(24)24(26)24 times = 103(107)111(115)119 sts. At a work height of 49(50)51(52)53 cm, bind off for the sleeve cap on both sides every 2nd row: 1 time x 6 sts, 1 time x 3 sts, 4(3)3(4)4 times x 2 sts, 3(3)5(5)6 times x 1 st, 5(7)7(7)8 times x 2 sts, and 1 time x 4 sts. Bind off the remaining sleeve stitches in one step.
Finishing: lay out all pieces on a flat surface, dampen from the wrong side, and let dry. Sew the right shoulder seam.
For the collar, pick up 118(120)122(124)124 sts evenly along the neckline edge, including the stitches from the holder. Work in garter stitch. At a height of 1.5 cm, on the left side, make another buttonhole in the same way as the previous ones, 1 cm from the side edge. Work another 1.5 cm and bind off. Sew in the sleeves, sew the side seams and sleeve seams. Sew the buttons onto the left shoulder.
