Baby’s age: 2-5 months
You will need:
- 250g of pink yarn (40% wool, 60% acrylic);
- 70g of white yarn (100% polyamide);
- elastic (for waistband);
- 6 snaps;
- 3 mm needles.
Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm
Hat
With pink yarn, cast on 68 sts. Work the lace pattern from the chart (1 repeat in height), then knit 2 rows in stockinette stitch, work the lace pattern again (1 repeat in height), and then 2 more rows in stockinette stitch. Then switch to white yarn and work 16 cm in reverse stockinette stitch. Thread yarn through the stitches of the hat and gather tightly. Sew the back seam of the hat.
Fold the pink stripe to the right side of the hat and hem it in place. Using pink yarn, embroider 2 small flowers (3 cm in diameter) with stem stitch. Embroider one large flower (5 cm in diameter) at the top of the hat. At a distance of 5 cm from the hat’s seam on each side, knit the “ear flaps”: pick up 10 sts along the fold of the hat brim, work in stockinette stitch, decreasing 1 st at the beginning of every row until all stitches are bound off.
Sew twisted cords, 30 cm long, to the bottom of each ear flap.
Cardigan
Right front: with white yarn, cast on 32 sts and work in stockinette stitch. At 26 cm, bind off for the neckline: 6 sts, then 2 sts twice, then 1 st once. At 30 cm, bind off the remaining sts.
Left front: work to mirror the right front.
Back: with white yarn, cast on 62 sts and work in stockinette stitch. At 30 cm, bind off the sts.
Sleeves: with pink yarn, cast on 42 sts and work the lace pattern from the chart (1 repeat in height), then knit 2 rows in stockinette stitch, work the lace pattern again (1 repeat in height), and continue to the end of the piece in stockinette stitch. At 9 cm, increase for the sleeve shaping on both sides, 1 st 12 times every 2nd row. At 20 cm, bind off the sts.
Finishing: along the front edges of the fronts, knit the button band: with pink yarn, cast on 48 sts and work the lace pattern from the chart (1 repeat in height). Bind off the sts. Sew the seams.
For the collar, along the neckline, with pink yarn cast on 65 sts and work the lace pattern from the chart (1 repeat in height), 2 rows in stockinette stitch, the lace pattern from the chart (1 repeat in height), then bind off the sts. On the fronts, embroider 2 small flowers with pink yarn using stem stitch. Sew the snaps onto the placket. Fold the collar outward and sew along the edge.
Pants
With pink yarn, cast on 62 sts and work the lace pattern from the chart (1 repeat in height), 2 rows in stockinette stitch, the lace pattern from the chart (1 repeat in height), then continue in stockinette stitch to the end of the piece. At 15 cm, increase on both sides for the leg widening, 1 st 19 times every 2nd row. At 23 cm, decrease on both sides by 3 sts, 2 sts, 1 st. Continue working even.
At 37 cm, work 1 row in reverse stockinette stitch, 3 cm in stockinette stitch, and bind off the sts.
Work the second pant leg the same way.
Sew the pants together. Sew the seams. Fold the top edge of the pants to the inside and sew down. Thread the elastic through.
