Boy's Crochet Hat and Scarf Set - Free Crochet Pattern for Boys

You will need:

100 g of moss-colored yarn (100% acrylic);
80 g of dark green yarn;
3.5 mm crochet hook.

Chain (ch): insert hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch.

Single crochet (sc): insert hook into a stitch of the chain or the previous row and pull up a new loop, yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook at once.

Double crochet (dc): yarn over the hook, insert it into a stitch of the chain and pull up a new loop, then work off the 3 loops on the hook in pairs, two steps.

Half double crochet (hdc): yarn over the hook, insert the hook into a stitch of the chain and pull up a new loop, work off all 3 loops on the hook at once.

Front post double crochet (FPdc): work a dc, inserting the hook around the post of the stitch from the front side to the back side.

Slip stitch (sl st): insert the hook into a stitch of the chain, yarn over and pull it through both the chain stitch and the loop on the hook. Fancy stitch pattern: see Chart 1. Crown: see Chart 2.

GAUGE: 17 sts = 10 cm.

Scarf

With moss-colored yarn, chain 29 sts and work in the stitch pattern from Chart 1, alternating yarn colors accordingly. At a height of 78 cm, continue working in hdc with moss-colored yarn. At a total height of 86 cm, cut the yarn.

Finishing

Fold under the last 10 cm and tack the edge with invisible stitches, gently gathering it to form a casing through which the loose end will later be threaded. Dampen the finished piece and let it dry.

Hat

With moss-colored yarn, make a magic ring and work the crown following Chart 2, increasing as shown to reach 84 sts. Continue working in dc without increasing, inserting the hook through the back loop. At a height of 18 cm, continue in the stitch pattern from Chart 1, turning the work to the other side, since this section will later be folded over. At about 7 cm from the start of the pattern, work the last 2 rows in dark green yarn, then cut the yarn.
