Main Pattern
Simple Tunisian crochet = 1 row consists of 1 forward pass and 1 return pass.
Border Pattern
Tunisian crochet with a double-ended hook.
Row 1: using the double-ended Tunisian hook, pick up sts as for simple Tunisian crochet, turn the work,
Row 2: join the 2nd ball of yarn, close off the sts as for simple Tunisian crochet, do not turn the work,
Row 3: work with the yarn from the 2nd ball, as row 1, turn the work,
Row 4: work with the yarn from the 1st ball, as row 2,
Row 5: work with the yarn from the 1st ball, as row 3.
Always work 2 rows in the same direction.
Repeat rows 2 through 5 continuously.
Stripe Sequence
Work in Tunisian crochet with 4 strands held together in the main pattern, always using 2 strands of ecru (color 1), and alternating the other 2 strands as follows:

Instructions
Front Side
Chain 60 sts with 4 strands held together on a Tunisian hook (= 2 strands of ecru and 1 strand each of colors 3 and 5) and work in the main pattern following the stripe sequence.
Then work 4 rows with 4 strands of ecru in the border pattern, plus 1 more row of single crochet.
Back Side
Work as for the front side.
Finishing
Place the front and back pieces wrong sides together and single crochet both pieces together in 1 round using color 1 with 4 strands held together.
For the handles, chain 5 sts with color 1 using 4 strands held together and work 32 rows of single crochet.
Sew the handles to the center of the inside, along the top edges of the front and back sides.
