You Will Need
- Qual Paris yarn (100% cotton, 75 m/50 g) – 200 g in denim
- Muskat Soft yarn (100% Egyptian cotton, 100 m/50 g) – 150 g each in multicolor, blue, blue-violet and red melange
- size 8 mm crochet hook
Stitches and Charts
Main Stitch Pattern
Work in single crochet (sc).
When working in rounds, begin each round with 1 turning chain instead of the 1st sc and end with 1 slip stitch.
When working back and forth in rows, begin each row with 1 extra turning chain.
Gauge
9 sc x 10 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in the main stitch pattern with 4 strands held together.
Important! Crochet the bag with 4 strands held together, combining 1 strand each of Muskat Soft yarn.
Instructions
Using Muskat Soft yarn held in 4 strands, chain 34 + 1 turning chain, then work 34 sc along each side of the chain and join with 1 slip stitch into the 1st sc to form a ring = 68 sc. Continue working in the main stitch pattern in rounds on 68 sts on both sides until the piece measures 39 cm high. Then, using Qual Paris held in 3 strands, work 1 more round of sc and 1 round of crab stitch (= sc worked right to left) = 42 cm high.
Fold the top 8 cm to the right side, then work around the top folded edge with Qual Paris held in 3 strands, 1 round of sc and 1 round of crab stitch.
For each of the two handles, using Qual Paris held in 3 strands, chain 6 + 1 turning chain and work in the main stitch pattern back and forth on 6 sts until each handle measures 62 cm long.
Sew the side seams together up to the outer 5 cm. Sew the ends of the handles on the wrong side of the bag, 14 cm apart on each side.
