Patterns and Charts
Hairpin Lace Crochet
Using the hairpin lace fork, work strips 7 cm wide, then join the open loops on both sides. The number of loops must be a multiple of 9 or 6. Work the appropriate number of loops using the fork (a detailed guide to the basic hairpin lace technique is included with the fork’s packaging).
Rosette
Chain 10 sts and join into a ring with 1 slip stitch. Continue working in rounds according to the chart. Begin each round with the starting chains as shown on the chart, and end each round with 1 slip stitch or 1 treble crochet worked into the last starting chain, as indicated.
Work rounds 1–3 once.
For clarity, the chart shows the join to the hairpin-lace strip.

Gauge
Rosette diameter = 16 cm;
width of the strip with 1 row of chain arches on both sides = approximately 9 cm.
Measurements on the schematic were taken from the finished sample.

Instructions
Work the rosette.
For the 1st strip, work 216 loops and join into a ring with 1 slip stitch. Join the right side of the strip to the rosette: *work 9 loops together with 1 sc, ch 5, 1 sc into a chain arch of the rosette, ch 5, repeat from * continuously, working 2 sc into each chain arch of the rosette (see chart) = 24 loop groups. End this and all following rounds with 1 slip stitch.
Join the left side of the strip: *work 3 loops together with 1 sc, ch 5, repeat from * continuously = 72 loop groups.
Work the 2nd strip the same as the 1st, and join both sides the same way as the left side of the 1st strip = 72 loop groups each. Then join the right side of the 2nd strip to the 1st strip. To do this, work *1 sc into a chain arch of the 1st strip, ch 5, 1 sc into a chain arch of the 2nd strip, ch 5, repeat from * continuously.
For the 3rd strip, work 432 loops and join into a ring with 1 slip stitch. Join the right side of the strip: *work 6 loops together with 1 sc, ch 5, repeat from * continuously = 72 loop groups.
Join the left side: *work 3 loops together with 1 sc, ch 5, repeat from * continuously = 144 loop groups.
Join the right side of the 3rd strip to the 2nd strip as described, skipping 7 loop groups for the armholes after every 43 loop groups (= left armhole), joining 15 loop groups (= shoulder line), skipping 7 loop groups (= right armhole).
For the 4th strip, work 864 loops and join into a ring with 1 slip stitch. Join the right side of the strip: *work 6 loops together with 1 sc, ch 5, repeat from * continuously = 144 loop groups.
Join the left side: *work 3 loops together with 1 sc, ch 5, repeat from * continuously = 288 loop groups. Join the right side of the 4th strip to the 3rd strip as described.
Finishing
Work 1 round of sc around each armhole.
