Instructions

Back

For the upper back piece, make a chain of 93 (101) 109 sts + 3 turning ch and work in main pattern.

After 26 cm = 22 rows (25 cm = 21 rows) 23.5 cm = 20 rows from the starting row, for the armholes bind off 6 sts on both sides, then in every following row decrease 2 x 2 sts and 2 x 1 st = 69 (77) 85 sts.

After 35 cm = 30 rows from the starting row, for the neckline, leave the center 37 sts unworked and finish both sides separately.

To shape the inner edge, decrease in every following row 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st. On the remaining 13 (17) 21 shoulder sts, finish work after 45 cm = 38 rows from the starting row.

For the lower back piece, work along the starting row of the upper back piece in main pattern, beginning with rows 8 + 9 of the pattern = 93 (101) 109 sts, then repeat rows 2–9 continuously.

At the same time, to shape the piece, increase on both sides in every 3rd row from the start of this section 7 x 1 st. Work the increased stitches first as dc and gradually incorporate them into the pattern = 107 (115) 123 sts.

After 34 cm = 29 rows from the start of this section, finish work with row 4 of the pattern.

Front

Work as for the back, but on the upper front piece, after 2.5 cm = 2 rows from the starting row, leave the center 29 sts unworked for the insert and work both sides separately from there.

To slope the neckline on the inner edge, decrease in every 7th row 3 x 1 st.

To round the neckline, after 28 cm from the division, decrease 2 sts, then in the following 2nd row decrease 1 x 2 sts.

At the same time, work the armhole decreases as for the back. On the remaining 13 (17) 21 shoulder sts, finish work at the same height as the back.

Finishing

For the insert, work 8 square motifs and sew together according to the schematic. Sew the insert into the front neckline.

Sew the shoulder and side seams.

Edge the neckline, slit, and armholes with 1 round of sc, then work crab stitch (= sc worked from left to right).

Sew the edges of the slit between the 2nd and 3rd squares together in a few places and sew on a decorative button at the join.
