Stitch Patterns and Charts

Crochet Motifs

Work in rounds according to Chart 1.

For the first motif, make a chain of 4 ch and join into a ring with 1 sl st.

Work 2 rounds according to the chart, starting each round with the given number of chains instead of the first stitch and ending with 1 sl st into the top of the starting chain. Work dc and tr only around the chain of the previous round.

Work all following motifs the same as the first motif, but in round 2 join each motif to the previous one. To do this, at the points marked with an arrow, work 1 sl st into the corresponding chain of the adjoining motif instead of the middle chain of the arch. If several motifs meet, work the joining slip stitches into the previous joining slip stitches.

To finish, work Row A as a base for Pattern 1 or to straighten the edges, according to the instructions.

Main Stitch Pattern

Rounds: the number of starting stitches is a multiple of 3. Work according to Chart 2. Begin each round with 3 ch instead of the first dc and with the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat continuously, end with 1 sl st into the 3rd chain of the starting chain, then move to the start of the next round with 1 sl st.

Attention! After each round, turn the work with 3 ch and work in the direction of the arrow to create a dynamic fabric pattern!

Work rounds 1–3 once, then repeat rounds 2 and 3 continuously, working the dc only around the chain of the previous round starting from round 2.

When working the main pattern back and forth in rows, the number of starting stitches is a multiple of 3 + 2.

Work according to Chart 3. Start with the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern repeat continuously, end with the stitches after the repeat.

Work rows 1–3 once, then repeat rows 2 and 3 continuously, working the dc only around the chain of the previous row starting from row 2.

Gauge

1 motif = 10 x 10 cm,

17 sts x 8.5 rounds/rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in the main pattern.

Attention! Work the yoke for the back and front as a single piece. Work the lower part onto the yoke.

Arrow on the pattern = direction of work.

Instructions

Yoke

Work 30 (39) motifs and join according to schematic A (B), where the double lines represent the armholes – do not join motifs there.

Work Row A around the outer edges of the yoke without the armholes.

Fold the front pieces with right sides together onto the right side of the back, overlapping the left front piece over the right, and work the shoulder seams on both sides for a length of 10 (15) cm; for this, join the stitches of Row A from the armhole over the span of 1 (1 1/2) squares using sc – see also the arrows on the schematics.

Turn the yoke right side out, place the front pieces with right sides together onto the wrong side of the back, with the front pieces overlapping each other along the center front line by 20 cm = 2 squares (30 cm = 3 squares).

Work 1 round of sc around the lower edge round A, joining the edges of the front pieces, and over 7 (8) squares work 19 sc each; between them, evenly distributed, work 20 sc over 1 (2) squares = 153 (192) sts.

Lower Part

Work the sc of the lower edge of the yoke in the main pattern in rounds, with the sc given below the chart. Finish after 40 cm = 34 rounds.

Attention! At the beginning, the pattern draws in slightly and widens as the height increases. This is shown on the schematic as a slant.

Sleeves

For each sleeve, make a chain of 38 (44) ch + 3 turning ch and work the main pattern back and forth in rows.

To shape the sleeve, increase 1 st on each side every 4th row from the starting row, 9 times (every 3rd row, 12 times), following the pattern = 56 (68) sts.

Finish after 42.5 cm = 36 rows from the starting row.

Finishing

Sew the sleeve seams. Set in the sleeves, sewing them at the joining points marked on Chart 1.

Work 1 round of crab stitch around the lower edges of the dress and sleeves.

When wearing the garment, fold the top corners of the front outward like lapels.
