Today we are going to talk about ribbon embroidery, and I will show you how to make a beautiful “rose” using twisted ribbon. This is a very cute, simple, and interesting technique that is absolutely perfect for beginners.
First, take a 6 mm pink ribbon and bring it to the front side of the fabric. Next, twist the ribbon around the needle. Pinch it at a distance of about 3 centimeters, fold it, and release it — it will twist on its own. While gently holding the twisted part, make a second puncture right next to the first one. Carefully pull the ribbon through, and it will naturally fold into the shape of a tiny, delicate rose.
To ensure this floral shape is preserved, take a regular sewing needle with white thread and make a short anchoring stitch right in the center. For extra reliability, you can add one more small stitch.
Now, let’s try making the exact same rose using a wider 12 mm white ribbon. The process remains the same: pierce the fabric, twist the ribbon, pull it through, and secure it with a thread.
