  • yarn 2 (70% alpaca wool, 30% polyamide; 225 m/50 g) – 50 g each of white-black and gray-black, plus leftover rust-colored yarn
  • size 5 mm crochet hook

  • strong black sewing thread

Important! The instructions describe 2 sizes, which correspond to three foot sizes.

The piece is worked tightly with 2 strands held together, using a 5 mm hook.

For working yarn A, hold 1 strand of gray-turquoise together with 1 strand of white-black; for working yarn B, hold 1 strand of blue-turquoise together with 1 strand of gray-black.

Patterns and Charts

Main Pattern

Work in single crochet (sc) in rows, back and forth, or in rounds; begin each row with 1 turning chain instead of the first sc, and end each row with 1 slip stitch into the turning chain.

To double a stitch, work 2 sc into the same base stitch.

Gauge

15 sc x 15 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked with double strand.

Instructions

For the toe of the foot top, using yarn A, make 1 chain and work in the main pattern as follows:

Row 1: 3 sc into the chain;

Row 2: double the 1st and last stitches = 5 sts;

Row 3: double the 1st and last stitches = 7 sts;

Row 4: 7 sc; Row 5: double the 1st and last stitches = 9 sts;

Row 6: double the 1st and last stitches = 11 sts;

Rows 7-9: 1 sc in each stitch;

Row 10: double the 1st and last stitches = 13 sts;

Row 11: 13 sc;

Row 12: double the 1st and last stitches = 15 sts;

Row 13: 15 sc;

Row 14: double the 1st and last stitches = 17 sts;

Row 15: 17 sc.

For size 1, continue as follows:

Row 16: 17 sc;

Row 17: double the 1st and last stitches = 19 sts;

Rows 18 and 19: 19 dc each.

For the opening, leave the middle 7 sts unworked and continue first on the first 6 sts:

Row 20: 6 sc, turn;

Row 21: skip 1 st, 1 sl st, 4 sc;

Row 22: 4 sc;

Row 23: skip 1 st, 1 sl st, 2 sc;

Row 24: 2 sc;

Row 25: sl st, 1 sc.

Then work the last 6 sts of row 19 in the same way, mirroring rows 20-25.

For size 2, continue as follows:

Row 16: double the 1st and last stitches = 19 sts;

Row 17: 19 sc;

Row 18: double the 1st and last stitches = 21 sts;

Rows 19 and 20: 21 sc each.

For the opening, leave the middle 7 sts unworked and continue first on the first 7 sts:

Row 21: 7 sc, turn;

Row 22: 1 sl st, 6 sc;

Row 23: 6 sc;

Row 24: skip 1 st, 1 sl st, 3 sc, 2 sc into the last st;

Row 25: 5 sc;

Row 26: 1 sl st, 4 sc;

Row 27: 3 sc;

Row 28: 1 sl st, 2 sc.

Then work the last 7 sts of row 20 in the same way, mirroring rows 21-28.

For the sole edge trim, using yarn A, chain (79) 86 sts and join into a ring with 1 sl st, then work 1 round of sc. Now, using yarn B, attach the foot top to the trim along the outer edge with sc, inserting the hook into each row of the foot top, and leave 29 (30) sts free for the heel.

On the free stitches of the trim, work the heel in the main pattern using yarn A:

Rows 1-3: 29 (30) sc in each row;

Row 4: double the 1st and last stitches = 31 (32) sts;

Row 5: 31 (32) sc;

Row 6: 7 sl st, 17 (18) sc, 7 sl st;

Row 7: 31 (32) dc.

Continue working in rounds over all the heel and foot top stitches:

Round 8: 31 (32) sc over the heel section and 15 (17) sc distributed over the foot top section = 46 (49) sts; join the round with 1 sl st;

Row 9: 1 sc, skip 1 st, 1 sc, skip 1 st, 23 (24) sc, skip 1 st, 1 sc, skip 1 st, 16 (18) sc = 42 (45) sts;

Round 10: 27 (28) sc, skip 1 st, 13 (15) sc, skip the last st = 40 (43) sts.

Work the upper part of the sock slipper with yarn B in the main pattern in rounds:

Round 11: double 2 sts on the front section = 42 (45) sts;

Round 12: skip 1 st on each side at the transition to the heel = 40 (43) sts;

Round 13: evenly skip 3 x 1 st in the heel section = 37 (40) sts;

Round 14: 37 (40) sc.

Work the following 4 rounds without increases in yarn A, 3 rounds in yarn B, and 8 rounds in yarn A.

Then, using yarn B, work 10 more rounds, doubling 4 sts evenly in rounds 4 and 6 = 45 (48) sts.

Sew the seam between the heel and the foot top.

Make the second sock slipper the same way.

Decorate the sock slippers freely or as shown in the photo.

Over the heel seams, work 3 cross stitches and 1 more stitch in the middle of the heel, using yarn B held in 4 strands.

On the foot top, work 3 vertical stitches in the same way with gray-black yarn, and at the crossing points in the middle, add a small cross stitch with rust-colored yarn (held in 5 strands); for extra dimension, add double stitches to the motifs if desired.

Using the same yarn, work a running stitch above the trim and below the last stripe of the sock slipper’s upper part (stitch length = 2-3 sts).

Sew the crocheted parts of the sock slippers to the soles with strong thread.
