Knitting the Pullover
Back: Cast on 90(98)104(110)118 sts on 4.5 mm needles and begin working the rib from the wrong side: p2 (p2), p1 (k2), k2. Work 8 cm of rib. Change to 5 mm needles. Continue working the center 46 sts in rib and 22(26)29(32)36 sts on each side in stockinette stitch. At a height of 42(43)44(45)46 cm, bind off on both sides for the armhole every 2nd row: 1×4(5)5(5)6 sts, 1(1)2(2)2×2 sts, and 2(3)3(4)5×1 sts = 74(78)80(84)88 sts. When the armhole measures 20(21)22(23)24 cm, bind off the center 26(26)26(28)30 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately. Bind off from the inner neckline edge every 2nd row 2×1 st. When the armhole measures 22(23)24(25)26 cm, bind off the remaining 22(24)24(26)27 shoulder sts. Work the other side of the neckline the same way.
Front: Work as for the back until the armhole measures 2(3)3(4)4 cm. Work 5 cm across all stitches in stockinette. Continue working the center 46 sts in rib and the sides in stockinette, as for the back. When the armhole measures 13(14)15(16)17 cm, place the center 18(18)20(20)22 sts on hold for the neckline and finish both sides separately. On the inner edge, bind off every 2nd row 6×1 st in the following order: knit 2 sts from the neckline edge and, on the inner side of these stitches, bind off by purling 2 sts together. When the armhole measures 22(23)24(25)26 cm, bind off the remaining 22(24)24(26)27 shoulder sts. Work the other side of the neckline the same way.
Sleeves: Cast on 44(44)46(48)50 sts on 4.5 mm needles and begin working the rib from the wrong side: k1 (k1), k2 (p1), p2. Work 8 cm of rib. Change to 5 mm needles. Continue working the center 14 sts in rib and 15(15)16(17)18 sts on each side in stockinette stitch. At the same time, increase on each side every 8(8)6(6)6th row 4(2)(7)16(16)x1 st, then every 6(6)4(4)4th row 11(14)0(2)3×1 st = 74(76)80(84)88 sts. Work the newly added stitches in stockinette. At a height of 49(50)51(52)53 cm, bind off on each side every 2nd row for the sleeve cap: 1×6 sts, 1×3 sts, 10(11)12(13)14×2 sts, and 1×3 sts. Bind off the remaining stitches at once.
Finishing: Lay the pieces to the correct size wrong side up, cover with a damp cloth, and let dry. Sew the side seams. Pick up the 18(18)20(20)22 sts held for the neckline onto circular needles, and pick up an additional 70(70)72(72)74 sts = 88(88)92(92)96 sts. Work in the round for 8 cm in rib so that the rib on the front continues up to the collar without breaking the pattern. Bind off. Fold the collar over and sew it down on the wrong side. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the side and sleeve seams.
