Knit Hat with Basket Weave Pattern
Even a beginning knitter can make this basket weave pattern. The warm orange color and fun shape radiate energy.
Sizes
M (L)
Head circumference 48 (53.5) cm
15 sts and 20 rounds = 10 x 10 cm (Basket Weave pattern).
What makes this hat so nice is that it fits the head perfectly. After knitting the crown, you knit the inner part of the brim, then the outer part, which you fold to the right side.
Abbreviations Used
Increase 1 st: knit 1 through the front and back loop.

For Both Sizes
Switch to circular needles. Purl 2 rounds.
Inner Brim
Work in stockinette stitch for 14 cm.
Outer Brim
Turn the crown and inner brim (worked in purl) wrong side out. Knit 2 rounds. Repeat rounds 1–10 of the Basket Weave pattern twice, then rounds 1–5 once more. Bind off, cut yarn leaving a tail about 61 cm long.
Finishing
Turn the crown and inner brim (worked in knit) right side out. Cinch the crown stitches closed with a needle. Fold the part of the hat worked in the Basket Weave pattern to the right side so that the bind-off round rests on the fold line between the crown and the inner brim. Using the tail left after binding off, sew along the bind-off round with a chain stitch seam.
