Stripe Sequence

Alternate 2 rounds in peach, 2 rounds in red.

Square A

Work with a 2 mm hook in rounds. Make 6 squares total.

Begin each round with 3 ch instead of the first dc, and close the round with 1 sl st into the last chain of the turning chain.

Round 1: With red, work a magic ring of 6 ch, close with 1 sl st into a ring. Then work 3 ch, 2 dc into the ring, 3 ch, *3 dc into the ring, 3 ch; repeat from * 2 more times, sl st to close.

Round 2: 3 ch, [2 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc] into the chain-space, 2 ch, *[3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc] into the next chain-space, 2 ch. Repeat from * 2 more times, sl st to close.

Round 3: 3 ch, at the corner work [2 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc] into the chain-space, 2 ch, skip 3 dc, work 3 dc into the chain-space, 2 ch, *[3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc] into the corner chain-space, 2 ch, skip 3 dc and work 3 dc into the next chain, 2 ch. Repeat from * 2 more times, sl st to close.

Round 4 (in peach): 3 ch, [2 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc] into the corner chain-space, *2 ch, skip 3 dc, 3 dc into the next chain, 2 ch, repeat once more from *, ** [3 dc, 3 ch,

3 dc] into the corner chain-space, 2 ch, 3 dc into the next chain, 2 ch, repeat once more from **, sl st to close.

Round 5: work as round 4, but between corners work 3 times [2 ch, skip 3 dc and work 3 dc into the next chain].

For size 116/122 work one more round 6, for size 128/134 work rounds 6 and 7 of the square in peach, adding one more group of [2 ch, skip 3 dc and work 3 dc into the next chain] in each new round.

Square B

Make 4 squares.

Work as for Square A, but with a different color sequence:

Round 1 (rounds 1-2) – red,

rounds 2+3 (rounds 2+3) round 3 – peach,

rounds 4+5 (rounds 4-6) rounds 5-7 – red.

Gauge

26 sts x 47 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 2.5 mm needles,

square of 5 rounds = 6.5 cm x 6.5 cm, crocheted with a 2 mm hook.

Note! The model consists of two yoke pieces made of 5 squares each; the skirt is then knitted on needles below the yoke, and raglan sleeves are sewn to the outer edge of the yoke.

The arrow on the schematic shows the direction of knitting.

Instructions

Yoke

Work 5 squares each for the front and back.

For each square, cast on a chain of 6 ch in red and close with 1 sl st into a ring.

Join the 5 squares for the front and back with mattress stitch according to the schematic.

Skirt

Along the lower edge of the front and back yoke, pick up sts in red with 2.5 mm circular needles as follows: starting from the side seam, pick up 20 (24) 28 sts from the edges of the squares and 1 st from each pointed corner = 246 (294) 342 sts.

Join in the round, mark the beginning of the round and work 1 round in knit, working the last st of each square together with the first st of the next square at the joins = 240 (288) 336 sts.

Continue working in stockinette stitch in the round, working the following for the scalloped pattern:

Round 1: *1 knit, k2tog, 17 (21) 25 knit, 1 increase, 1 knit, 1 increase, 17 (21-25) knit, k2tog with a left-leaning slant. Repeat from * to the end of the round.

Round 2: knit all sts.

Repeat these 2 rounds continuously.

For the side shaping, after 6 cm (= 22 rounds) from the cast-on, work 1 round without decreases. This increases the number of sts between the increases/decreases by 1 st in each repeat. Repeat these increases (without working sts together) 2 (3) 4 more times, each time after 22 rounds.

After 26 (31) 37 cm (= 98 (120) 142 rounds) from the yoke, continue in the stripe sequence while continuing the scalloped pattern.

After 18 rounds of the stripe sequence, work 2 more rounds in purl stitch in red for the bottom border, then bind off all sts.

Sleeves

Cast on 50 (58) 64 sts with 2.5 mm needles in peach and work 4 rows in garter stitch for the cuff. Then continue in stockinette stitch, working 1 decorative decrease on each side for the raglan shaping, then repeat 1 decorative decrease on each side every 2nd row 11 (13) 15 more times = 26 (30) 32 sts.

After 10.5 (11) 12 cm (= 50 (54) 58 rows) from the cuff, bind off all sts.

Finishing

Sew the sleeves to the yoke. Work 1 round of single crochet around the neckline in red.
