Instructions
For the bag, crochet 68 squares. For each square, work the first / first and second / first, second, and third rounds in one or two different colors. Work the last round(s) in gray. To keep the wrong side neat, catch the end of the previous yarn when working the next round. When changing color, work the slip stitch that ends the round in the new color.
Start with a chain of 4 ch.
Rnd 1: work 11 dc into the first of the 4 chains, end the round with 1 sl st into the 4th chain.
Rnd 2: 3 turning ch, 1 dc into the same st, 2 dc into each st to the end of the round, end the round with 1 sl st into the 3rd turning ch = 24 sts.
Rnd 3: 3 turning ch, 1 dc into the same st, *1 dc into the next st, 2 dc into the next st*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 dc into the next st, 1 sl st into the 3rd turning ch = 36 sts.
Rnd 4: 1 turning ch, 1 sc into the same st where the sl st of rnd 3 was worked, 1 sc into the next st, *1 hdc into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, 2 dc into the next st, 2 ch, 2 dc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 sc into each of the next 3 sts*, repeat from * to * 3 more times, but end the last repeat with 1 sc into each of the next 2 sts (instead of 3), then work 1 sl st into the first sc of the round.
Finishing
Fold the squares as shown in the schematic and join them with slip stitches: place the squares wrong sides together and work sl st through the back loops of both squares: 1 sl st into each stitch / into each chain.
First join the squares for one side of the bag, then for the other. Then form the bottom by folding the bag according to the arrows on the schematic. Join the sides along the first 2 squares – see the long arrow.
Wash the bag in the washing machine at 30°C using a quick wash program. Then let it dry and sew on the handles – see the red marks on the schematic.
