Instructions
For the bottom of the bag, using a double strand of yarn and a 4 mm hook, chain 39 sts.
Rnd 1: skip the first 4 ch (= side sts), work 1 sc into the 5th ch from hook, 34 sc, turn with 4 ch (= side sts) and work another 35 sc along the other side of the starting chain. Close the round with 1 sl st into the 1st ch.
Rnd 2: 1 turning ch in place of the 1st sc, 5 sc into the ch-arch, 35 sc, 6 sc into the ch-arch, 35 sc, close with 1 sl st into the turning ch = 82 sts.
Rnd 3: work as Rnd 2, working 2 sc into each of the 6 side sc = 94 sts.
Rnd 4 and 5: work sc without increases.
Rnd 6: double the stitches on both sides again, work 35 sc along the long sides = 118 sts.
Rnd 7: work 118 sc. The bottom of the bag is complete.
For the sides of the bag, work straight in sc; for a more defined transition, in Rnd 1 always work the sc through the back loop of the sc from the previous row.
After 32 cm = 58 rnds from the bottom of the bag, finish the work with 1 round of sl st.
Finishing
Sew the half-rings onto the front and back of the bag, 7.5 cm from the center, and attach the handles with a hook.
