Dress assembly and construction diagram

Description. This dress is made using the complex technique of assembled lace, which is nearly impossible to copy exactly, so each piece made this way is unique. Every crafter has their own tension while working, their own creative approach, and different model sizes. In this version, the measurements are shown on the schematic, and you will need about 50 different motifs. Make a full-size pattern of the pieces from heavy paper according to your own measurements. It’s best to make a single pattern piece, marking the upper edge of the back on the reverse side. Such a template will be convenient to work with. Since some motifs are placed along the side seams, part of a motif will lie on the back and part on the front. When joining the motifs, assemble them in a circle to avoid visible seams.

Crochet as many different motifs as you need using charts 1-4. Combine the yarn colors as you like. Edge each motif with a single round, alternating 1 dc and 1 chain; this will make it easier to join the motifs during assembly. Lay part of the motifs on the pattern piece with the right side down so they fill the entire pattern area on one side (it’s best to start with the front of the garment). If there are gaps, fill them with small “circle” motifs made from chart 5. Baste all the motifs to the pattern piece. Now join the motifs into a single piece by sewing them together with a needle. Turn the pattern piece over and again lay out and baste the remaining motifs with the right side down. Now sew all the motifs together. Remove the finished piece from the pattern.

Finishing. Edge the bottom of the garment with one round of dc. Crochet a chain 30 cm long and sew it to the top edge of the front bodice. This forms a neck strap that secures the top of the bodice. Edge the top of the garment together with the strap with one round of sc.
