Instructions
Make 24 (27) squares following the instructions and join into 1 strip measuring 3 x 8 (9) squares, making sure identical motifs do not end up next to each other.
Join the squares with sl st: place motifs with right sides together and insert the hook only through the back loops of the edge stitches.
Finishing
Work 1 row of dc along the lower edge in black, red heather, brass, and black yarn, in that order.
Work 1 row of dc along the upper edge in brown, brass, green, and brown heather yarn, in that order = 4 cm.
Sew the seam, including the bottom band, with sl st following the instructions = center back.
Work the ends of the top band (= the slit) and the top edge with 1 round of sl st in brown heather yarn.
For the straps, work a chain of 68 ch + 3 turning ch in brown yarn, then work 1 row of dc in brown, red heather, brass, and green yarn.
Note! Check the strap length by trying the top on.
Work sl st along the long edges of the straps in matching yarn colors.
Embroider the square joins and rows 2–4 of the bands and straps with cross stitches in black yarn.
Mark the strap placement after trying the top on, and sew them to the wrong side of the top edge.
Sew the button to the edge of the back slit. Button through the openings in the pattern.
