Getting Started: Preparing Your Materials
To begin, you will need to prepare your embroidery floss in advance. The bracelet will consist of six threads in total—two strands for each of your chosen colors. The process starts by tying a simple knot at the top end of these threads.
For convenience, you can secure the knot to the cover of a book using a binder clip. Alternatively, you can use your preferred securing method, such as taping the ends directly to a table or desk.
Weaving the Classic Friendship Bracelet
Next, separate the threads into pairs by color. You are completely free to decide which colors to use and in what order you want to weave them. In this specific video lesson, we are using two blue threads, two red threads, and two yellow threads.
Here is one very important rule to remember: the weaving of this classic pattern must always begin with the leftmost thread. This specific thread is known as your working thread, and all the knots for that row are made using it.
Using the working thread, make a left loop knot (commonly known as a forward knot) over the adjacent thread. Continue this pattern by making exactly two knots on each consecutive thread across the row. Once you reach the end, this working thread becomes the rightmost thread, and the new extreme left thread takes over as the new working thread. Simply repeat this process until your bracelet reaches the desired length!
