VIDEO: How to Make Paper Flowers for the Wall

Kids and adults alike love making simple DIY paper crafts, especially flowers. Paper flowers are both easy to make and incredibly beautiful. With their help, you can create a unique greeting card, a lovely bouquet, or decorate a room for any holiday.

Furthermore, decorative paper flowers have several distinct advantages:

  • they never fade or wither;
  • they require zero maintenance;
  • they are completely hypoallergenic;
  • you can use them to create a wide variety of floral arrangements;
  • they allow you to decorate a wall in a bright, beautiful, and stylish way;
  • they instantly create a festive mood;
  • they don’t require any rare tools or expensive materials to make.

Materials needed:

  • double-sided colored paper
  • scissors
  • quick-drying craft glue

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Take a sheet of paper measuring 12 cm by 30 cm.
  2. Using a pencil, tightly curl and roll the sheet of paper around it.
  3. Glue the end of the rolled paper to secure the tube.
  4. Repeat steps 1–3 two more times. You will end up with three paper tubes (as shown in the video).
  5. Cut all the tubes in half to make equal-sized pieces.
  6. Create the frame for the craft. Glue the tube pieces together to form the base.
  7. Now, let’s start making the paper flower itself. Take a square piece of paper measuring 8 cm by 8 cm.
  8. Fold the paper in half diagonally so the fold creates a triangle.
  9. Fold the resulting triangle in half one more time.
  10. Draw a sketch of a flower petal on the folded paper.
  11. Cut along your sketched line and unfold the piece. You now have a flower shape! Repeat steps 8–11 five more times so you have a total of six paper flowers.
  12. Gently curl the flower petals outward using scissors. On three of the flowers, make a single cut towards the center. Overlap the petals next to the cut and glue them together to create a 3D effect.
  13. Glue two flowers together at the center, layering them. You will now have three pairs of volumetric flowers.
  14. Take a strip of colored paper measuring 1.5 cm by 18 cm.
  15. Fold the paper strip in half lengthwise and make small fringe cuts along the edge.
  16. Unfold the fringed strip of paper.
  17. Roll the strip tightly into a small tube and glue the end. This will serve as the center (stamen) of the flower.
  18. Make two more centers for the other flowers. Glue each center into the middle of the flower bases.
  19. You now have three finished flowers. Securely glue these flowers onto your prepared tube frame.
  20. Cut out four small hearts from colored paper.
  21. Cut thin strips of colored paper and glue the hearts to their ends to make decorative vines. Attach them to the main frame.
  22. Your DIY paper flowers for the wall are ready!
