Kids and adults alike love making simple DIY paper crafts, especially flowers. Paper flowers are both easy to make and incredibly beautiful. With their help, you can create a unique greeting card, a lovely bouquet, or decorate a room for any holiday.
Furthermore, decorative paper flowers have several distinct advantages:
- they never fade or wither;
- they require zero maintenance;
- they are completely hypoallergenic;
- you can use them to create a wide variety of floral arrangements;
- they allow you to decorate a wall in a bright, beautiful, and stylish way;
- they instantly create a festive mood;
- they don’t require any rare tools or expensive materials to make.
Materials needed:
- double-sided colored paper
- scissors
- quick-drying craft glue
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Take a sheet of paper measuring 12 cm by 30 cm.
- Using a pencil, tightly curl and roll the sheet of paper around it.
- Glue the end of the rolled paper to secure the tube.
- Repeat steps 1–3 two more times. You will end up with three paper tubes (as shown in the video).
- Cut all the tubes in half to make equal-sized pieces.
- Create the frame for the craft. Glue the tube pieces together to form the base.
- Now, let’s start making the paper flower itself. Take a square piece of paper measuring 8 cm by 8 cm.
- Fold the paper in half diagonally so the fold creates a triangle.
- Fold the resulting triangle in half one more time.
- Draw a sketch of a flower petal on the folded paper.
- Cut along your sketched line and unfold the piece. You now have a flower shape! Repeat steps 8–11 five more times so you have a total of six paper flowers.
- Gently curl the flower petals outward using scissors. On three of the flowers, make a single cut towards the center. Overlap the petals next to the cut and glue them together to create a 3D effect.
- Glue two flowers together at the center, layering them. You will now have three pairs of volumetric flowers.
- Take a strip of colored paper measuring 1.5 cm by 18 cm.
- Fold the paper strip in half lengthwise and make small fringe cuts along the edge.
- Unfold the fringed strip of paper.
- Roll the strip tightly into a small tube and glue the end. This will serve as the center (stamen) of the flower.
- Make two more centers for the other flowers. Glue each center into the middle of the flower bases.
- You now have three finished flowers. Securely glue these flowers onto your prepared tube frame.
- Cut out four small hearts from colored paper.
- Cut thin strips of colored paper and glue the hearts to their ends to make decorative vines. Attach them to the main frame.
- Your DIY paper flowers for the wall are ready!
