This free online calculator will help you calculate the required amount of embroidery floss (or any other embroidery thread) in meters and skeins for each color, depending on the number of full cross stitches of that color in the pattern.

If you use evenweave fabrics instead of Aida cloth, such as Edinburgh 36 or Murano 32, use the following values:
- when stitching on Edinburgh 36 fabric over two threads, specify the size as 18 (36/2);
- when stitching on Murano 32 fabric over two threads, specify the size as 16 (32/2);
- when stitching on Murano 32 fabric over one thread, specify the size as 22 to get the closest value.
The calculated amount of embroidery thread in meters may sometimes not correspond strictly to reality; to get a more accurate result, a margin of error (%) was introduced. For example, if you are filling a large part of the embroidery with one solid color, the margin of error = 0%. However, if the pattern has a large distance between individual stitches of the same color, the margin of error = 40%. On the exact same embroidery pattern, the margin of error may vary for different colors. Therefore, you will have to choose it yourself based on each specific case. Note: Standard embroidery floss skeins (like DMC) contain 8 meters of thread, which is accounted for in the skein calculation.
I hope the rest of the settings are clear. Enjoy using it!
Здравствуйте.
Правильно ли я понимаю, что при расчете ниток, например, риолис-шерсть, надо полученное число умножать на 6, так как в пасме у этого мулине 1 нить.
Заранее спасибо за ответ.
